  • I coulda swore the lead singer smahed a tomato on his face at some point...memory is too hazy...

  • Gong Show ? Hell I thought I was watching American Idol, I was ready to phone in my vote.

  • There are only two types of people in this world. Those that loved The Gong Show and those that peed themselves on buses.

  • FUCK. THAT. BITCH. I was really starting to get into that song.

  • what's ironic (or sad) is that while this wasn't quite up to snuff by the standards of late 1970s punk, it totally blows what passes for punk nowadays completely offa the map.

  • Mebbe Mabel should have said "Enough is enough" when it came to food !!

  • Static Cling is awesome! Back in the day my band covered this song.

  • Static Cling is awesome! Back in the day my band covered this song.

  • Was there another verse if they hadn't gotten gonged?

  • Mouse Trap earings? LOL

  • That was pretty rockin.

  • I love that Marshall Amp! I'm guessing it is a 30 watt combo tube set-up.

It doesn't take a lot of complex high powered equipment to crank out some good punk.....

  • wow!

  • fucking bitch. sorry it ain't soul music for your fat ass.

  • This is quite possibly one of the best love songs ever written!!! Neat and straight to the point.

  • This is where Punk started.

    She has no (...burp)... taste.

  • I'm sure Wild Man Fischer was the first punk.

  • What was the OOPS all about?

  • gorilla man needs his ass kicked

  • the words were written for jaye p. morgan.

  • that black lady is a bitch and i should break her fucking noise.

  • Any body else notice that the bass only has 1 string on it!!!

  • Was that an egg he smacked on his head @ 0.16?

  • tomato

  • Does anyone have all the lyrics?

One of my favorite Gong Show acts!

  • I wanna be your sausage

    I wanna be your meat

    Don't tell me I'm outrageous

I'll shoot you in the street

    I like your new dress

    Now take it off

    Come over here for playtime

    I'll show ya I'm tough

This is my love song to you

This is my love song, I love You

  • I bought you a vibrator But the batteries went down I'd go and get ya new ones but it's twenty miles to town Bought you seven pairs of panties One for every day While you're sniffin' one pair I got the other six for play This is my love song to you This is my love song, I love you Alright.....Okay.....Alright....Okay... (these are the lyrics for the taping, the original version was slightly different) -Neil Nonchalante
  • Are you that guy singing? I thought it was cool!

  • Yes. And the band's album "Take The Barf Home" will be available on cd sometime early next year. We'll post it here!

  • @moosepube Brilliant! I love it. Is there more footage of Static Cling?

  • @Rottenriguez

Yes, there is an 8mm home movie of The Barf (aka Static Cling) doing an arrival and 1 song concert at Pipeline Skatepark in Upland, Ca. It was the only gig we ever did, and the power was shut off after the first song. The skatepark thought they were getting a rock band......instead..."they" got gonged, so to speak....

  • I saw this when it first aired.

  • I remember it too!! I was in shock...but I loved it. hahahaha

  • I don't know what's cooler, the tape over the bass player and drummers mouths, or the mouse trap ear ring! Great clip, Mean ol' Mabel!

  • Ditto.

  • "Static Cling" was just one of the names used on the gong show. The band was actually named "The Barf" and released an LP "Take The Barf Home" in 1979. They played only 1 concert at Pipeline Skatepark in Upland, Ca.

The power was pulled on the 2nd song.

  • Dang her, for gonging them boys.

  • Great song. I'd love to hear more. I know it was just a joke for the show, but did anyone from the band ever play in a punk band? Is this the only recording of Static Kling?

  • If ever an act deserved to be gonged it was static kling.

  • dig the "for sale" sign on the bass drum !!!!

  • this sounds like blitzkrieg bop by the ramones

  • Oh that's brilliant!! Love the bass player, I just wish he STILL played with tape over his mouth ... just kiddin Tommy ... :-)

  • Hey this is Tom and I am the bass player in this Static Kling video! Our original name was "the Barf" but ABC TV. would not let us use that name at the time! Chuck Baris liked us so much that he Hired us to be on his next show called "The Chuck Barris Rah Rah show" which never made it vary far and was cancelled befor we would air on this new show!

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR HAVING US ON YOUR SITE!

TOM (BASS), PAT (DRUMS, CHUCK (GUITAR & KEN (VOCAL)

  • @2twelver Yo Dip....can you upload the Pipeline Video from your Bro? It would be cool!

  • "enough is enough!!"

i bet RERUN or DEE wouldn't have gonged them!

  • F Mabel King. Enough is Enough? She should of applied that at her dinner table.

  • you're obsessed wih it, Narzo, because you have impoeccable tas'e.

  • ROFL!!!

  • The singer in Static Cling is Kenny Dwight from "Sybill"....Chuck Strain on guitar, Tommy Rojo on bass and Pat "Muck" Mullis on drums...sorry,no Jack Taylor, dude!

  • That's the question ...what band(s) did they go on to form ?

Is that Mick Mars on bass?

  • 3 of the players were in "Sybill" from LA....and they showed up on several gong episodes as a "bumper" act to lead into the commercials. Chuckie B loved 'em!

  • i'd buy their records!nice mousetrap earings too!

  • Heck they're better than anything off of American Idol. We'll be right back...with more stuff...right after this...

  • Wow! Static Cling was so ahead of its time, the music and clothing is so what was happening in the 80's music scene. I would buy their album/CD, it it existed. Great music, and great gear.

  • Even The Ramones would have been gonged in the 70s. I kinda liked Static Cling.

  • No Jaye P Morgan= NO SHOW

  • the Banana Splits of punk rock.....a good laugh

  • Chuckie baby had the best hats.

  • ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, shouldave bowed out athe hieight of PUNKCRAPROCKwhatever! Laffed my ass off when i first saw them on TV! Never thought i'd see this again! THANKS UTUBE~!

  • STATIC CLING! The best group to ever come out the PUNKJUNK GENERATION! All the members should have had their mouths taped and more tomatoesplash!

  • retardo cartoon punk and good at it. Gotta love the mousetrap earings.

  • still better than fallout boy

  • AMEN, BROTHER!

  • This was dime store punk...and discounted at that! GONG!!!!!!!!!

  • If that song was on a 7" and I didn't have to look at ugly ass band, I'd buy it. Good Dangerhouse/UK sloppy punk. I'm for it. Need to change their band name, though.

  • "mama told me not to gong" would have been a more suitable song. i guess she'd rather see re-run dancing. hahahaha.

  • man, they were rockin

  • I like it....I like The Ramones.

  • Mabel sang gospel. She wasn't gonna sit through punk rock....lol

  • Mabel had a good point.

  • Hey good clip, not a bad band, very late 70's punky feel,

sort of in the Pistols and early Clash vain. Should not

have been gonged. Mean old Mabel.

  • Could Static Cling be the future Oingo Boingo in the late 1970's Gong Show appearance?
