I was plagued by the water leakage problem of the RS300 sport watch, it is not live up to it's promise as water resistant watch. It even leak during bathing and humid conditionn

I read a questions on whether you have to "start a session" to get it to measure heartrate/cals burned. The answer was that it will display heartrate outside of a session, but not cals burned. My question is- what are the limitations of having to start a session? One of the things I want to do is periodically check my metabolic maintenance rate by wearing it all day to see how many cals I burn with no extra activity. Is it possible to do that with this watch or is there a session time limit?

Polar OwnCal calculates the number of calories burned during training. This feature allows you to track the calories burned during one training session and cumulative calories burned during several training sessions. The training videos on Polar's website going in to greater detail.

whats the difference?? I didnt get it. Polar RS300x Multisport and Polar RS300x Run??

@420tarsa The run uses the S1 foot pod to measure speed and distance. The watch itself is called the Polar RS300X Multi-sport because it can uses different sensors like the S1 or the G1 GPS to adapt to different sports - that is really all.

The multifunction watch, 'RS300x Multisport' can use both S1 foot pod and G1 GPS, whereas

'RS300x - Run' can only use S1?

If I buy the run version I'll receive it with the S1 foot pod? And if I buy multisport it will be with G1 GPS?

Sorry if I sound too noob.

@420tarsa Yeah, you get it - the run version has the S1 foot pod and the multi-sport version has the G1 GPS. You can also buy the plain version with no accessory.

All three versions are on sales through this Friday, February 4th - the S1 and G1 units are $30 Off, so its not a bad time to be looking at these because Polar does not have sales very often through authorized dealers. And..you want to buy through an authorized dealer or there is no warranty.
