  • So have I told you I have a man up in space? No. Literally, I have a man up in space.

  • That explosion was caused by a fleet of alien ants.

  • What a cinematic climax -- replete with Derek's face superimposed upon a California sunset! Love those old '50s Sci-Fi movies!

  • This is one of the best MST3K episodes I've ever seen! Lots of priceless jokes in this one.

  • The Gamera Pediatrics Team is friend to children!

  • "Joe, uh, do you want to get back together?"

I think Crow forgot Joe and Betty were siblings!

  • Joell's such a goof, and a cute, lovable goof at that.

  • Oh my wow, Joel I love you....

  • Did any of the other actors (besides Derrick wearing his Bobby Goldsboro jumpsuit) have a wardrobe change? I know Gramps didn't.

  • WOOF! Hellllloooo Joel! <3

  • So, does Derrick go to hell for committing suicide?

  • i think ive seen that cave on mst3k b4.

  • @antgav79 I was thinking the cave was used in "Robot Monster" or "Night of the Bloodbeast".:-)

  • @sleepyhollow783 The cave is the famous Bronson Cavern. I didn't know its name for a long while, but it's been in a huge number of these things, including those two movies and Eegah.

  • This was my 1st MST episode. I'm glad it turned out to be one of the 10 best. It was perfect & I've been hooked since 1992. :-)

  • It's his graduation photo!

  • "Dinner, Mr. President? TONITE? Why SURE!"

That cracked me up then, and it still cracks me up now.

  • "Dinner, Mr. President? TONITE? Why SURE!"

That cracked me up then, and it still cracks me up now.

  • "Dinner, Mr. President? TONITE? Why SURE!"

That cracked me up then, and it still cracks me up now.

  • Part 2 Time 3.16 if you want to go back for more TOR-CHA!

  • Nice Navy coverall on Joel. Bet Mike wishes he had one of those lol.

  • I'm pretty sure those caves have been used in other movies. They're perfect hiding places for treasure, monsters, and bad guys with secret weapons.

The duct tape clothing skit isn't too far from reality. Look up "duct tape fashions" on Google and you'll see what I mean!

  • @ElveeKaye Looks like the same cave opening from "Earth vs. the Spider"

  • Special effects were the worst, dialog was laughable, acting was terrible, but I have to say the basic plot was somewhat decent. I almost enjoyed the movie as much as the riffing.

  • -Resusi- annie or Margaret Thatcher?

  • I would love a poster of 4:00, please.

  • @JoelandtheBots ...or maybe 4:30?

  • @JoelandtheBots u think that's hot? check out 4:35 YOWZA!

  • Ah, the "Joel" episodes were always the best.

  • "No, literally, I have a man up in space.":-)

  • Okay, time for the dirt...

David Love (Derek) and Director Tom Lockyear a.k.a. Thomas Lockyear Graeff (Betty's BF Joe) were actually lovers.

The Secretary and Thor (Mr. TORCHA!) were played by Bryan and Ursula Pearson, who were conned by Tom Graeff into financing the film, and were never repaid.

In 1962, Tom Graeff bought a huge ad in the L.A. Times, claiming to be second Christ.

Daddy-O's drive-in dirt is just amazing sometimes. :)

  • whee did you get this info if what you say is true I love these vids way more

  • Satellite News, the official MST3K website has a section called DADDY-O's DRIVE-IN DIRT, which offers all kinds of interesting tidbits about the movies and shorts featured on the show.

It's amazing how often these films involve some sort of chicanery.

  • Not that amazing, Tom. It is Hollywood, after all...

  • I suddenly feel the urge to listen to Moby's "We are all made of stars." Or I could just use epicac to induce vomiting. Could be faster.

  • Listening to Moby IS an epicac! Or at the very least, it's TORCHA!

  • I seem to remember hearing a story about an actor who took a role in a MST3K-sporked film so he could pay for a sex change operation (think on TvTropes). Would that be related to this?

  • That sounds like Bunny Breckinridge who appeared in Ed Wood's PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE (he may have been in others, but I'm not sure). He did want a sex change, but after a terrible car accident while traveling to Mexico to undergo the procedure, he gave up the idea.

  • Ooo, the boys had quite the photoshoot! I wonder if I could find stills of those somewhere...

  • Fashion segment.... GENIUS. SHEER GENIUS... I want to freeze and copy Joel's pictures and make them my desktop background...

  • Killed in Vietnam.

  • Aww, so much for the happy ending I wanted.

"Somewhere over the rainbow..." That fit perfectly! :)

  • You cut out the stinger...BOOOOOOOO

  • I know, sorry! It somehow got cut off when I was splitting up the episode. I guess I deserve some TORCHAAA for leaving it out.

  • YES TORCHAAA!!!!! I WILL DO IT MY SELF

  • @fritzthecat4455 do you know what it was? I imagine it to be the lobster standing up and going AAAHHHH! that made the guys laugh too XD

  • @sunderwoodbio I just skipped to the end of it...it's the "the high counsil may sentence you to torture!" line.

  • OO MII GAD

that was the funniest segment in the megaverse

    -hero

  • Ringo Starr is Derek's dad? Wtf?

  • Thank you!! I thought maybe I was going mental..like the beach dancers in "Horror at party beach" LOL

  • Please tell me someone else noticed that you could hear Derek's dad yelling outside the interplanetary craft, even with the "hatch" closed??Need some Owens Corning insulation eh?LOL!

  • I definitely noticed the Dad yelling from the outside. I kept thinking, "I hope that microphone doesn't pick up the extra noise!" But you're totally right. That space ship has paper-thin walls. Kinda like my apartment. :)

  • Well that was great fun!

  • I have to say, I really like Betty!

  • Agreed.

They don't make 'em like that anymore.

  • Oh, I don't know, she looks a lot like Winona Ryder or Audrey Tautou.

  • Is that the same cave they used in Robot Monster?

Thanks for providing us with this episode!

  • "Soooomwheeere over the...."

    LMAO!

  • The stinger! The stinger... ...where's the stinger?

  • "So... have I told you I have a man up in space...?"

I have to try that line sometime...

  • maaaaan, I want the stinger, dangit!

  • TORTCHA!

  • This last host segment is something I'd watch alone, and a lot.

  • 4:25-Tom looks fabulous! I adore him.

And anyone else snicker at those poses Joel struck? Especially the last one! lol

  • I love TV's Frank. "Help me!"

  • Oh wow! How long do you suppose it took to make these outfits?! Sweet...I want...

  • What? No Stinger?

  • it was probably the "Torture!!!" part from the beginning

  • You mean "TOR-CHA!"

  • They really love those slingshot briefs on this show.

  • Well who doesn't?

  • Joe namath KNITTED slingshot briefs

    not that i would know*eyeshift*

  • Crow stretched out on a bear skin rug?? I died laughing!

  • Duct tape jumpsuit fashions is probably their best fashion show, but they do another good one with the uniforms in Time of the Apes, too.

  • Sing us out of here Derek!

  • "Well, you can swab my deck anytime, sailor!" lol ;-) Joel's hot!!!!!!

  • "So, have I told I have a man up in space?"

  • The night belongs to Crow...BWAHAHAhahahahaha! Omg..I had to watch that skit about 10 times and laughed hysterically every time. XD

  • Love those duct tape fashions! XD Joel is SOOO sexy!

  • no stinger?

  • I'm guessing it was...

    TOR-CHAA!

  • It is, acctually. I read it on a MST3K episode guide.

  • Awesome! :D

  • "It's his graduation photo ..."

  • LOL How many Citizen Kane references can you possibly put into an episode? I counted at least four.

  • duct tape can also be used for TOR-CHA!

  • Joel: "So long, screw ya, see ya in St. Loo-ya."

  • "So have I told you I have a man up in space?" XD

  • Bet he gets (got) tired of correcting viewers on his name. =)

  • So when people made this piece of crap in the 50's, do you think they had any inclination that it would inspire a spoof fashion show 4 decades later?

  • Joel has an echo.

  • The fashion show shoot is hilarious!!!!

    HAAAGAHAHAHahhahahahaaahaaaaaa!!!

  • Betty`s the REAL alien, her eyes are all pupil - If she got skeletized do you think her hair would stay the same?

  • Tom with legs...!

  • "OOOOHHH,what a burn,that's somebody's mother."

  • "Evening may be Tom's but the night belongs to Crow!"

This is actually one of the better movies that MST3K has ever done. It's just great 50's SF cheese. Thanks for the awesome upload!

  • Crow in a slingshot brief? eeyuchk!

  • "Soooome WHAAAARE over the rainbow..." Glad I wasn't the only one who thought that music sounded a little too familiar.

  • Stingerless?!

  • Oops! Sorry, I don't know how that happened. It's the "TORCHA!" guy delivering his signature line.

  • Derek's "graduation photo" made me lmfao!!

JOEL: You know he first had one taken with his hockey uniform...

    (HA!)

  • LOL, duct tape fashions. Especially the slingshot briefs XD

  • Joel looked a little too into that....especially the ones lounging on the desk. :-o

  • Yeah ^^ These "uncomfortable" skits are always my favorite ones for some reason XD

  • 3:13 is the best. Freaking hilarious shot of Joel.

  • Yeah, that one makes me blush a little....

  • Thank you for posting this one! I enjoyed it very much.

  • "Ah, criminy, there's little chunks of Derek everywhere, eccch!"
