Kansas does have the death penalty however, it was not made acceptable in court until 1994. All the murders that BTK was put on trial for were done in the 1970's. Therefore, he was not eligible for death row. If they could link him to a death either in 1994 or after, he could be placed on death row. Because of his celebrity, he'll be in solitary. Which means 23 hours a day in your cell with almost zero stimulation. He's been in there for a few years. He's just lucky that he got caught so late in life( I think he was around 61 or so). If he'd gotten this in his 20's or 30's...he'd be looking at a helluva lot more time and pain.

@piecefulcenter well the idea he could be in there for 175 years is not what i am concerned. but in canada, they do allow you to have a chance for parole after 25 years for multiple murders. that means it is not guaranteed you'll be released in 25 years, but it gives you an opportunity to work towards it on good behaviour.
