30 pounds? I know that some ladies gain added weight in general for their pregnancy, and it is hard on them. But not to downplay - when was the last time you saw a lady give birth to a freaking 30 pound baby? She doesn't feel the other 'added weight' that she gains apart from the baby - it's attached to the body a lot more 'closely' than the baby.
Secondly, the 'added weight' on his end is further outward - and 'loose.' His dangles. Hers is attached internally in her stomach, with no way to mimic that. So...it's easier for her than for him, with an outward weight dangling everywhere.

Mike, she has been training with that weight for awhile. I'm sure if you keep practicing you won't get completely owned again. ;)
