  • Thanks Jim Stoppani and bobbycozmo for giving away the secrets fro free. What can be said, except you guys rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks so much. Awesome.

  • Hey guys,, can someone give me advice on HIIT. I know its high intensity, but is the time your exercising meant to be 100% effort? Obviously your having rest periods, but from the look of it hes not putting much effort into the 'jump rope', dunno whether thats just because its a video or whatever... would appreciate the help guys.

  • @onetwothereefour You're not meant to do more than 15-20 minutes of HIIT per day. During this time, you need to put 110% of your effort. You need to push yourself to the max. You can do your 15 mins of HIIT and then do other training like weights etc, but don't exceed that amount. And also, make sure you always leave a day in between doing HIIT and don't do it more than 3 times a week. Hope that helps.

  • @onetwothereefour Skipping isn't really the best for a beginner though, I would recommend this. Go on a treadmill or running outdoors, walk for 3 minutes as a warm up. Then SPRINT (not jog, SPRINT) as fast as you can for 30 seconds. Then walk for 30 seconds, Then sprint again. Do this combination 7 times in the first week, then in the next week, try 8. Hope this helps you.

  • would you recomen me doing this in the morning on a empty stomach?

  • @Civ3Player Never do any cardiovascular exercise on an empty stomach. Instead, try eating carbohydrates (potatoes, pasta, rice, carb supplements) beforehand and maybe even a banana for the potassium.

  • @robmpoirier How much time before excercising should one have food?

    30 minutes?

  • i like eatin mcdonalds .... me: shut up go to bed youre already fat you wanna loose weight well it makes no sense with no confidence !

  • This was good advice thanks : )

  • you dont need that gym boss crap. you can download free interval training and tabata timer on the android or apple market for your phone. late noobs.

  • Boobs!!

  • @KKCvids He totally has bouncy boobs.

  • Why are your arms bruised?

  • "Cardio is a critical element to you getting laid"

  • Anyone else think he sounds/looks like Joe off Family Guy?

  • how to get a six pack abs?? DIET,, no matter how hard you crunch, a hundreds or thousands crunches for as long as you don't have any idea how diet works, all you can get is a stress tummy, tummy ache and lower back tension pains....

  • This actually gets me excited for losing weight. Is that just me, or..?

  • i have got the high interval training monitor from "Android Market", just type for HIIT and u will get the aplication for free, its really usefull and funny, there are severals aplications like this, once u get it u will never again feel good working out in HIIT with out this tool. i guess i should be on iphone as well, :))

  • The way I do is sprinting. I sprint about 50 min, walk back, repeat. After I've really out of breath I rest for about 2-3 mins, then repeat. Sometimes I go uphill

  • Hey, is this a good plan for getting as slim/lean as possible?

Hey, I was wandering if this is good for getting as slim/lean as possible?

Monday - Spartacus workout followed by 20 to 30 minutes of steady state cardio.

Tuesday - heavy weight lifting followed by HIIT run.

Wednessday - hour of steady state cardio

Thursday - heavy weight lifting followed by HIIT.

Friday - Spartacus workout followed by 20 to 30 minutes of steady state cardio.

  • PEOPLE Queit accting like you know more than him.......HE HAS A PHD in exercise physiology im sure he knows more.

  • Nice combo on the dummy! Lmao lil elbow chin music!

  • hottie

  • Where is this research? lol

  • @GreatGeneralUrsus LOL are you questioning a Ph.D,

  • @chesterdgreat91 Yes, I'm questioning his clear lack of evidence to backup his claims. I'm sure during the course of his Ph.D he was expected to do the same. There's a lot of misinformation in this community, one way of reducing that is at least pointing to where any so-called "research" comes from or by whom it was done. A link or something similar would do.

  • @GreatGeneralUrsus H.I.I.T works for me.I burnt 17kg of fat off my frame in the space of 2 months before bulking up.

  • @GreatGeneralUrsus in this profession we have our own opinion. and this person in the video is showing/sharing his knowledge about HIIT..and he is not forcing us to do that excercise.. =)

  • @chesterdgreat91 It has nothing to do with "opinion", if somebody says "Research shows..." then that is not an opinion. He is not giving an opinion about the benefits of HIIT, he is making a factual claim. Factual claims should be backed up, not simply taken at face value. With that said, I am not insulting him or his credentials. I am trying out HIIT myself for a couple of weeks, and if it works, great - if it doesn't, I'll try something else.

  • Just no.

  • Good video

  • You look alot like Hulk

  • to everyone saying he is in bad "cardio-shape" should realize hes a bodybuilder, he can care less if he cant run a marathon. HIIT is used by bodybuilders to cut body fat while forcing the body to pump out more HGH to ultimately preserve and increase muscle mass. We dont care about how long we can run, we care about cardio programs that can cut fat and dont break down our muscle mass.

And last but not least insert da1on2 comment here, he has the phD and has written great articles on bb.com

  • isn't that just another application of the golden ration in sports!!

the golden ratio goes in every thing in nature you can search for it .. it is 1.618

this training goes absolutly right with nature that is great .. thanks

  • He has a great "In-Shape" looking body but has shit for cardio. My chubby ass would still wear him out in 1 round in a boxing ring. Not to mention his piss poor punching in that worthless BOB thing. God Bless him for trying though :)

  • 0:40 wtf was that?

  • @Ysef I think a bug ran into the camera. lol

  • All the dumb asses on this message board should know the difference between HIIT and cardio. In order to get a good cardio workout, you have to keep your heart rate up for at least 20 minutes. If you go too hardcore on the HIIT, you'll never be able to keep it up for 20 minutes, and hence you will not get the best cardio workout possible.

  • @mgm8822 this

  • i thought this was supposed to be HIGH intensity.

  • This is just like Dr. Mercola's "Peak eight" exercise routine. Very intelligent way to exercise, and it works without fatiguing your body.

  • My video on HIIT training is much better, though.

  • Awesome video here man.

  • he is unfit

  • I agree with getting off the treadmill part but,,,,

???? Huh?? This is not HIIT! HIIT is a 2:1 recovery to work ratio! You have it all backwards!! For example, jogging 20 secs and then a full out sprint for 10 secs. Jogging would be the "recovery". You never stop and rest per say. You never stop moving in HIIT! you only alternate intensity. That is HIIT.

So for HIIT rope jumping you might jump rope at a moderate pace for 20 secs and then max speed for 10 secs and then repeat.

  • Batista?

  • everyone looks gay jump roping even a 220 pound man with arm sleeves

  • @stickmymasta not if u go fast

  • Tattoos make look so ugly

  • Love the tats . Good video

  • the guy is Brian dead

  • good video, Dr. Stoppani. Thanks!

  • what's the deal with stupid these 12yo haters??? they don't know what it's like when the age hits you.

  • Well you are not doing it at a high intercity !

  • Good video man, hey I'm 15 and 8 months, and I'm doing HIIT sprints on my treadmill, does this increase my HGH and make me taller, if yes, how many inches can I gain? When is the best time to do it daytime or nightime before going to sleep?

  • outta shape..

  • Could do this with jumping jacks

  • Damn , this guy is bigger than scooby,

  • i didn't get success with this...but check out our method:

    watch?v=A4SzxfCVhvs

  • Jim, Iam sorry mate but I have to ask you the question. PhD in what? It's certainly not in exercise nor fitness. Your fitness level is a joke and you appear to have little understanding of the HIT concept. It is clowns like you that fuck up and confuse the industry. Go back to school and read up. Regards

  • This guy reminds me of Batista :D

  • if he puts up more tatoos in his upper body, he will not be needing to wear a shirt soon...

  • Or jumprope for 60 minutes and rest for 30 minutes.

  • Great video man!!!

  • nice vid and info man

  • wow first person ive seen with tatoos covering both arms with a phd.

  • Great video well explained with different exercises to suit your needs. I'm very impressed as I have been watching a lot of Youtube for the last 3 years and your vid is clearly above the rest. Keep up the good work Dr Stoppani!

  • for all you dummys that think that jump rope is not hard, then that is an obvious sign that you have never done extreme jump rope. jump rope as hard and extreme as you can for one minute, then rest for one minute......repeat for 20 minutes, and then tell me that is easy. probably the toughest thing you will ever do as far as cardio.

  • This guy is explaining HIIT for fat loss and not top cardio improvement.

Depends on what your looking for. If just light training with good fat loss then this is fine.

  • and because he's in good shape it doesn't mean he has cardiovascular resistance...

you acquire cardiovascular resistance by running, swimming, cycling etc.

  • cycling uphill is great cardio, better than rope jumping imo.

  • Great vid, I will try this in my backyard. BTW work on your boxing skills :P Im only 80kgs and Im pretty sure I can take you down lol

  • Great VID though thank you

  • Why tattoos?

  • @LaxxMonkeyy

    Why the hell not?

  • Wasn'it supposed to be high intensity?

  • @noquar7er hahaha... you are such a bitch, calling this guy a pussy, I just looked at your list of favorites... Torn by Natalie Imbruglia. Really? oh, and the lyrics to men in black lyrics by will smith? I bet those come in handy. Then a lame ass country song? I bet you will play that so loud in your prius when you get your first kiss. But until then, I guess you can play xbox 360 or the ps3.

  • I liked it. Thanks for posting.

  • i think you should work more on your advertising because I had to look really hard to find your website :(

  • ti hanno detto ke sei un rfrocio?

  • sprinting and dumbbell squats for HIIT win! I try to do one session of each/week but I'm a bit inconsistent. I feel fantastic when I do them though. Interwoven with that I just do body weight core. I'm not interested in bulk just an athletic look so this suits me best.

  • damn people whats with the negative response

it may not be a HIT interval, just say it maturely

to some it maybe HIt especially for sedentary people

if your fit, of course you should look for higher intensity

but guranteed this is lke a HIT for people who dont work out

just be more assertive on what you say thats all

  • I love when youtube commenters act like they know more than the dude with a phD

  • 3:05 holy shit. Don't mess with this dude...

  • is mountain climbers good for fat burning?

    how about squats?

high knees??? what tips do u recommend me for fat burning workout to lose that belly...

  • he looks like the todd from scrubs lol!

  • Jumping rope is NOT high intensity.

  • birdapreyz and faux news I don't know why your dumbass comments got rated to the top - Sad, hating dickwads like you probably have multiple accounts to rate your shit up...As somebody said earlier HIIT is relative to the individuals fitness. Hell, a light jog followed by a walk could be HIIT to someone who isn't that fit yet. People always quick to knock people down who are helpful..

  • @Althugz agreed not all of us have a lot of free time to work heavily on our bodies like these dumbasses!!

  • Great work out and I will never wanna make you mad, nice fighting skills.

  • @drcleanmachine nice fightint skills?? are you retarded? That was the worse I have seen.

  • need some help-.- does interval training burn muscle aswell as fat?

  • 00:00 - 00:10, anyone is fucking in the background

  • To get very thin and great definition, can i do the HIIT workout for 10 minutes, then long distance cardio right after that??

  • To get very thin and great definition, can i do the HIIT workout for 10 minutes, then long distance cardio??

  • fail majorly

  • the video says HIIT TIPS, not HIIT workout. if your looking for tips; watch this,if your looking for a hiit workout, look else where, and STFU.

  • Hate to say it man, but this isn't HIIT, this is just Jumping Jacks done by a dude that thinks his big muscles = hit cardiovascular endurance.

  • all of you commenting saying that you can easily get big like this are retarded. Ever think that he is out of breath to get the point across? If you actually keep up with him he has ridiculous cardio endurance. Do any of you have the knowledge he does? Didn't think so. And this is definitely HIIT, get a clue.

  • @BigB1988

google hiit. you'll find your answers and your failure then.

  • pish

  • I hate it when someone says "Research shows.." and doesn't back it up by referencing the actual research.

  • Who's the fucking dr here dip shits? Shut the fuck up.

  • Is this bautista? lol jacked!!!

  • Wouldn't like to fuck with this guy haha

  • Failing to see the high intensity part.

  • if your younger just run as fast as you can for as long as you can non-stop,,,

bear-crawls are great ,low crawling/ high crawling ,sprints(further the better)

and most definitely high intensity kick-boxing ..,,,running with ruck sacks/weighted vest is great also-now the faster you go=the more you'll get out of it, Push yourself hard enough and you will surprise yourself your body can gain amazing cardio quick,it all really depends on how hard you push yourself

  • Best solution: Every-other-day, go outside and run at medium pace for 25 minutes. Then do about ten 100 yards sprints and holla at me in 5 weeks

  • I see it as impossible when they say when you do H.I.I.T. your metabolism stays elevated for more than 24 hours afterwards.

  • when i jump i count to 40 (i mean i jump 40 times) and then i rest like for 30 sec, i try to do that for 10 mins,

    nice vid, your fit tho

  • \m/ you rule maan! Thanks a bunch for the video! ;)

  • Looks promising :3

  • Hahaha gayest mountain climbers ever....

    Nice video though.

  • This is NOT HIIT.... This is my grandma trying plyometrics. Try jumping as high as you can, lifting your knees to your chest each jump, with no longer than 2 seconds between jumps, for 2 minutes straight. Then rest 1 minute. That's traditional HIIT. This is old man stuff with the jump rope. Look around youtube...

  • @birdapreyz Agree. This guy looks great but is in awful cardio-shape. He's winded from a brief jog and thinks jumping jacks are high intensity. Like Ken Shamrock in the octagon. All muscles but no battery to go.

  • @FauxNewsNetwork You're an idiot.

  • @FauxNewsNetwork You guys must do crossfit. Go suck each others cock. Talk all the shit you want, but I'd bet that old man would beat the shit out of both of you.

  • @GO302 You consistently demonstrate your ignorance. This guy would gas out in half a round, It isn't hard to get big. Eat a gram of protein per pound of body weight every day and lift hard for an hour every 3 days and you'll look like this slab of beef in a year (he's not that big). You'll look great, but won't have the cardio to run a flight of stairs unless you're doing REAL hiit on your off days. Don't take my word for it, read about the 1 knock on MMA fighter Bobby Lashley -- conditioning.

  • @birdapreyz

You definitely have a small penis.

  • @FauxNewsNetwork fail.

  • @FauxNewsNetwork pec implants fo sho

  • @birdapreyz i think this guys concept is getting lean while maintaining muscle size...long period of high intensity burns all kinds of calories INCLUDING muscle...learn ur shit

  • @ummmj I'm quite aware, but this is JUST low level cardio, not HIIT. It's mislabeled. Check my channel favorites for actual HIIT. Don't take my word for it, look around and search HIIT for yourself. These are simple warmups. Don't get confused. Saying "learn ur shit" and calling slow jump ropes "HIIT" makes you sound uninformed. It's great if you want to keep muscle and suck at cardio, just don't call things HIIT that aren't.

  • @birdapreyz

Boxers have some of the best cardio of any athletes in the world and they do much "old man stuff" by jumping rope.

Jumping with your knees to your chest is not the only way to get it done.

It depends on your purpose, there are also many football players who carry alot of body fat, but cardio is outstanding.

  • @birdapreyz Admittedly, this guy's got no lungs, but high intensity is relative to the individual. The average Joe or Jane would be gassing out at this workout. But I don't think the average Joe or Jane should be doing HIIT either. Might drop dead.

  • @birdapreyz fail.

  • @birdapreyz well have you seen his body? shut the fuck up get a life get a body half as good as his then comment :)

  • @birdapreyz hey dude, look at the freaking title, it says: "HIIT (High-Intensity-Interval-Training) Tips" it says TIPS, you can modify it depending on how hard you can work <_< or do you thing ppl will start this as a pro? i think this video is really good. Theres always a dumb that have to criticize other ppl work *rolling eyes*

  • Comment removed

  • I made my own HIIT workout based from this guys advice and hope it will work out. It seems to be working great so far

  • go to "getcuttz wordpress com"

  • Would a 5 1 min set jumping rope (without a rope) with 30 secs delay between the sets 5 min rest -> 5 1 min set jumping jacks with a 30 secs delay be effective?

  • Jim obviously knows a thing of two about getting lean as evidenced by his body of work. Literally.

  • How many calories are burned?

  • @avatarcollides2day Depends on your body and the HIIT training that you do but this is very affective and is very challenging for beginners.

  • Thanks mate.

  • Can someone please link me to a GOOD jump rope for HIIT?

    Thank you in advance.

  • I THINK HIS UPPER BODY IS BIGGER THAN HIS LOWER BODY ... ...MOST GUY IN GYM LOOK LIKE THIS ...THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT THE UPPER PART ...IT DOES LOOK FUNNY WHEN ITS NOT BALANCE...NICE TATTOO FOR NOW...AM WANDERING WAT ITS LOOK LIKE WHEN HES 70 ....

  • @Majikasian suck it, hater

  • @onlyat3am ....punky ....am not a hater ...it is what it is !!! brodah ...and i am just saying it !

  • i do spartacus training. :D

  • his tits are shakin, his tits are shakin

but he is still jumping, still jumping

    like Boom Head Shot =)

  • @shetaiya Not sure what your current fitness levels are but if your just starting out, then I advise to take it easy at 1st untill your body gets use to it, 30mins a day should be good, as you get fitter, you can get more intensive. Once you get into that intensive workout zone, then sugars would probably be a good thing to take. Best advice would go and see your local trainer and see what they recommend!

  • @ktayor1 even elite athletes dont do it for 30 minutes you cunt

  • @wwechamp7 dick head, I said take it easy for 30mins, cant you read boy, Duh, your so stupid! And whats even worse you get all personnel about it lol, what a loser you are, you probably sit at home on your fat ass, eating potatoe chips commenting on other peoples vids, and yes pro athletes do HIT for 30mins, they just do them for different durations. Your so stupid!

  • A super-ripped, huge guy with tattoos skipping rope...

    xD

  • @SnuserArne Guess you never heard of Mike Tyson.

  • I don't get why every website I go on it says a 1:2 ratio and it stresses the importance of rest dramatically. DON'T FORGET TO REST! OTHERWISE YOURE NOT GETTING THE FULL BENEFIT. But this guy acts the exact opposite

  • thanks for the tips!!

  • Would HIIT in the morning (empty stomach) start burning fat right off the back, seeing as there aren't any carbs to burn in a fasted state????.......also if this is true, about how long would it take for your body to eventually start using your muscle as fuel as well???

  • @aztekwarrior23 Yes it would start to burn fat right away and it depends on how much fat you have! Im pretty sure the body burns, sugar, fat then muscle. Im probably not totally accurate on this tho.

  • @aztekwarrior23 Yes it would start to burn fat right away and it depends on how much fat you have! Im pretty sure the body burns, sugar, fat then muscle. Im probably not totally accurate on this tho. Thats why if you cut down on sugar intake if you have alot of fat, then you will lose fat alot faster. In fact I saw a doco where a guy ate mcdonalds twice a day! Leaving out the sugars and chips, excercised moderately and lost 12 pounds in a month! Doco was called "Fathead"

  • wont high intensity interval training burn my muscle away?

  • @AmericanGMS Hell no. Bodybuilders do it. You don't need 30 to an hour of cardio with HIIT. 10 to 20 minutes tops of HITT and you're good to go.

  • I don't think you have to worry about pedestrians getting in your way....im not even sure you need to worry about traffic ;s

  • damn this guy looks like he's gonna kick some ass!!!

  • @xHIRx it can be 1:1 when it is REAL high intensity interval training. what he's doing here is nowhere close to high intensity so its possible to rest for half as long as the "high intensity" part but if he was doing lets say sprints around a 120 square at about 95-100% effort then his heart rate would quickly get up to maximum. it can't get back down enough to be able to perform the sprint again at your fastest possible pace after just 15 seconds rest. that's ridiculous. impossible.

  • you know I think this is the only guy on youtube that properly explains the 2:1 rest ratio. I was looking for a lot of things to send to people and they think HIIT can be 30 seconds and 30 seconds....when they are wrong

  • about the jump rope, how long should i do hiit? an hour? or more?

  • @liesoul 20-30 mins is all you need

  • wanna know high intensity? basketball on the drive way with your buds... ur shirt will be soaked.. and ull be drained

  • I think I saw this guy in a magazine

  • this really works...mountain climbers by itself will make you rain down sweat....tough.

    but worth it..

  • Why is there dirt smeared on your arms? Jw

  • he is well out of breath..no staminia

  • this guys bulky as fuck

  • a weak excuse for people who don´t want to run for at least 20 mins..load of bollocks.

  • @mad1966dog do your research dude, you can burn 4x the amount by doing fast bursts of running rather than running at a constant pace. this explains why sprinters have a lower fat % than long distance runners.

  • @gavinjamesaitken1 .. Don´t call me DUDE you little shit. It´s a load of shit. Always the Bodybuilders who are too fat and lazy to run.

  • @mad1966dog ok i wont call you dude, would you prefer mad dog? haaha fag

  • @gavinjamesaitken1 your the ass fucker boy. a little pussy with a big mouth on internet.

  • @mad1966dog Do H.I.I.T for 20 minutes then.

  • tried this with a jumprope.

Great for endurance and burning fat

  • Come and train with me and I guarantee that you will get into shape in 4 weeks if you survive running 2 times a day with one slow run and one speed run / intervals every day and total weekly mileage of 160km. Rope jumping for 20 minutes is NOT going to burn a fat ass in 4 weeks.

  • @FourSeasonRunner Even with my training I doubt that 4 weeks is enough, I say about 3 months at least.
