The first sentence of your response just proves how ignorant you are about the disease. Coming off a drug addiction requires intensive inpatient monitoring. Medication is vital for the survival of a person when they are detoxing. Drugs like Ativan and Klonopin prevent people from having seizures. Other drugs are used to regulate blood pressures and arrhythmias that are certain to occur...so you cannot "beat it" yourself without medication, unless you want a life threating trip to the ER
