what an insult... it is Shaolin Kempo. the term "kenpo" was a spelling error when a group of students lost their master and mispronounced the word. they continued to train under this misspelling and over time it stuck. sorry, but i couldn't train under someone that could make such an oversight. what about studying to be a kung fay master or a tae kane do master or maybe study the art of ju jant su? see my point? you make a commitment to dedicate your life to something and end up misspelling it

@governmentcheese411 The terms Kempo and Kenpo are not mispellings. They are English translations of two different languages. Kempo= Japanese. Kenpo= Chinese. The art forms are different because they have been taught by different teachers.

@izzo28 no my friend. the term chinese kenpo was brought here by ed parker in the 60s, period. which he spun into millions of $. tell me this... ever see a shaolin kenpo master? no! 700 years ago a master brought kempo to japan from china and not being japanese. he simply mispronounced the damn name, period. amusingly, all japanese kenpo is just a condensed and trimmed down chinese kempo. some would say it is refined. i say i'd rather enter a fight with 2 knifes rather than one.

@governmentcheese411 How you spell kenpo or kempo depends of if you are using the the revised Hepburn humanization system or the old one. The kanji ( 拳法 ) used for Kenpo is called Chuan Fa in Mandarin.

Actually the concept of N or M is not even in the Japanese language. You guys need to understand that Roman letters used for Japanese is only a guidline used for white people, it makes their life easier when learning Japanese. It's NOT M OR N, it's ん! In Japan ん can be pronouced as our N or M, but it's the same sound in Japanese. It just depends on where you are in Japan, and what word you're saying. The Roman letters are not THE LAW, it's just a guidline for white kids to pronounce words well

Nice Vid. I like shaolin kempo, I ve seen it used in real life scenarios, it just takes time to get really good, as with most styles of kung fu and karate. I also like to study Krav Maga and Aikido...makes a good mix....I do agree way over used song, but other wise nice...have fun.

From what i know, there is no difference. Just the Name. Ive also heard that Kenpo is more Japanese, Strong and Powerful, while Kempo is more Chinese, Swift and Agile.

The only person with good form was the second to last guy who whore the black uniform and took on 3. everyone else just could move around fast but their hands were way open with the fingers not even solid so if anyone has any experience could see it. i dono

I do Shaolin Kenpo (and Tae Kwon Do) myself. The term Shaolin is added to front to indicate that it is a Chinese art with a Japanese name (Law of the Fist) and to distinguish it as the progenitor of all variations of Kenpo.

It's a hybrid of many Southern Shaolin arts, so it's kind of a prdecessor to Bruce Lee's JKD, another excellent hybrid art.
