I got my period at 15, when i was at my friend cotage (in the middle of the woods). It was so awkward! Also I have very HEAVY PERIOD I have huge cramps and it's at least for 8 days -_- So Im happy that I got it late !

@XxEvE1986xX You should talk to your doctor, but don't be worrying to much, it can take up to 4 years for them to get into a proper routine. Mine took 2 months to come again after my last, and when it did I had it 3 weeks in a row...:( You should also check to see if you may be suffering from anemia, as this can cause irregular periods.

In some schools they do. I'm American and I was 10 when they started teaching us about puberty at school, then in middle school they talked about it again. So, I guess it varies from school to school.

Cramps hurt, but there are always to prevent too much cramping. Make sure to take midol/ibuprofen for pain, drinks lots of water. I use a diva cup so I don't get cramps or pain, but I don't advise using that if you are new to periods. It's a bit of an "advanced" tool.
