Wtf. Usually, every story has a certain conflict, a surprising turning point and a solution to the conflict. Does this movie have any direction at all? If so, this trailer does a very good job disguising that.

@dickgiraffe Well it's pretty obvious, the guy "Shmidt" doesnt want his daughter to get married with this guy, and goes on a life changing journey where he finds his true self. If you can't see that from the trailer...? then, hmm :/

just realised what this film is all about. It's about a guy who's completely obsessed with himself! All 'Schmidt' thinks 'About' is himself. At his daughters wedding, his speech doesnt even mention her at all. it s all about him. Maybe the message being something like - if you're self obsessed it s hard to live a happy life? but i love jacky in it and he plays the (satire) role so well and u do end up sympathising with him. but the film surely is a very subtle satire?

@tomes55moon not really..the film isnt about that at all..its about a person who didnt feel connected with anyone in his entire life...and whoops (SPOILERS): that's the reason why Ndugu's painting makes him cry in the end..he finally felt some love and connection in his life...simple

@wreyoG I don't think it is that simple I'm afraid. I mean come on, yes on the surface the film comes across like that, but the Director Alexander Paynes previous film, Election is very satirical film, lots of humour but also deeper, underlying, dryer thoughts in there too. And you just proved my point, it's not until HE finally makes an effort to better another humans life (Ndugu) that he finally feels love himself! Because his life previously was just all about himself, 'About Schmidt' :)
