Its very interesting to see this huge bike manoeuvre so well. Police issued gear is a joke in most of the US. Many other countries police have full faced flip up helmets and full body armored leather suits. I rode with a police officer in Texas that was wearing full gear and he said theres no way he would ride at work because he cannot wear full gear. I think that maybe the police departments dont care about safety or are living in the past or just cant afford proper gear?...
Other countries issue real motorcycles to their officers, too. Though I think CHP (if not more) utilize a more performance oriented machine. HD's are there to give grandma a ticket for speeding. Full respect to the riders in this vid, though: mad skills.
@RiotActI Actually, even a slow bike will keep up with a fast car. Those harleys would have no trouble keeping pace with a corvette (low end sports car) in a straight stretch of road. It's true that it isn't a Hiyabusa, or a gsx-r, which by comparison will run a dodge viper or a Ferrari over (exotic sports car). Power to weight ratio makes any bike with large displacement fast enough to catch 90% of the cars and trucks on the road.
Using your handle bar to steer is the best way to control your bike. Leaning is by far second. A lot of riders don't know it, but bike steering is the OPPOSITE OF CAR car and even tricycle STEERING! You have to internalize counter-steering! Push your left handle bar away from you (twist clockwise) to turn left! Don' believe it? Try it on a bicycle to prove it out. However, leaning/balance is key to slow speed tight maneuvers, because you often lock your handlebars all the way for hard turns.
@aligerous Nope, just an enthusiastic rider myself since I as about 8 yrs old on dirt bikes. I've taught a few people, and learned more by having to teach, too. But I'm not "talented" like these competitors!

I salute these guys. Wow! I never expect to ever be able to ride to anywhere near that level, but would like to have just a portion of that ability.
