As a proud owner of all 36 volumes of the manga series and everyone of the collectable japanese only figurines, and Behelit zippo. I found this adaptation to be a very poor example of what this series is truly like. The animation its shit, straight up, the manga will always destroy any adaptation simply because kentaro miura's art style is simply fucking amazing. His full page shots have insane amounts of detail and perfect shading. If you think your a berserk fan from watching this, dream on.

Best anime I've ever seen. The only complaint I have about the ending is that it doesn't show you what happens between Griffith raping Caska in the demon world and Guts losing his arm and eye and what was shown in the first episode with the older Guts. Just a minute or so to explain why he was left alive and how he returned to the real world wouldn't have gone amiss.
@soundwave010 After rereading the manga, another complaint I have is that they make Caska not completely cognizant of what's going on. I think one of the most gripping parts of the eclipse is when Griffith/Femto is raping Caska in front of Guts, and Caska cries and screams out to Guts not to watch. They make her cry, but she is muted in the anime and they don't really show how horrific this part of the eclipse really was.

@Shippudencave Ok I'll admit it, I am a language purist. For me if it's in live action there can only be subtitles, no exceptions!! Now when it comes to anime there are some english dubs I like, Fullmetal Alchemist, and Cowboy Bebop being two very strong examples. In fact in the case of Alchemist I like Scar's english voice better than his Japanese voice. I normally prefer the original because I often do think they are better. In this I really find the english dub subpar.

However if I just said no the Japanese is better then we wouldn't get anywhere, so I will say this: in my humble opinion the original Japanese dialog is superior. Griffith is not the snake demon, I have no idea how anyone could think...if you do ur retarted. the story of the manga is still on going, the anime only covered the first story arc. in fact Griffith is now once again human in the story. Which makes sense, if he is human Gutz can fight and kill him, kinda hard to kill a god.

And then Gutz got the Berserker Armor, so now I see how Gutz can fight him. Oh and the name of the series finally made sense!!
After my first time watching the ending to Berserk, I had to read the Ranma 1/2 manga for hours to be less depressed. That manga is one of the funniest things I've ever read in my life and it wasn't funny enough to counteract Berserk. FML.
@Shippudencave Wrong, that's not Griffith. Read the manga sometime. The Apostle at 3:50 appears later on in the story arc (after the snake demon has been killed) and summons Griffith, who is now Femto, along with the other four God Hand. The snake demon is not Griffith. Not by a longshot.
Hey guys! awesome dub but bad thing about it is that it left out some VERY important scenes for which carries on the story. HIGHLY recommend reading the manga after watching the dubs so it can give you a backbone information when reading the manga so you won't be lost.

It was based off the manga but they left out important plot elements and characters like the skull knight because they only wanted to do up to the 13th manga. The Movies in 2012 will be the first 13 volumes of the manga again, but done properly so that they can continue it. I recommend reading the mangas, there really good, i enjoyed reading them more than i enjoyed watching the anime.
@SeverithMantium I cannot enjoy reading. It has no sound. I feel like when i am reading it i am not prescribing the right emotions to it. Maybe a slaw in my reading skills yes, but all the same i cannot enjoy it. Plus, i am not spending my money on manga. It would probably be worth the buy still. I need my my for other things.

For those of you wondering - the very end of this arc (and of the anime itself) is left off for some reason. In the manga, this arc finishes in Volume 13 (which is where this episode is taking place, near the end of that volume). The manga is currently up to Volume 35. There is MUCH MORE to be told of this story - go find it and read it, it is TRULY amazing.

Hey guys! awesome dub but bad thing about it is that it left out some VERY important scenes for which carries on the story. HIGHLY recommend reading the manga after watching the dubs so it can give you a backbone information when reading the manga so you won't be lost.

SERIOUSLY!!! IT SERIOUSLY ENDS LIKE THIS? I figured there was going to be so much more because of episode 1. I thought he was going to hunt the mota fuken demons down. shiiiit. I can now understand why this anime in not known very well. because the end fucking sucks. and has a weird ass twist at the end that will make your head spin.

@runeflame16 lol dude, the anime was never going to be continued. It was based off the manga but they left out important plot elements and characters like the skull knight because they only wanted to do up to the 13th manga. The Movies in 2012 will be the first 13 volumes of the manga again, but done properly so that they can continue it. I recommend reading the mangas, there really good, i enjoyed reading them more than i enjoyed watching the anime.

@SeverithMantium I cannot enjoy reading. It has no sound. I feel like when i am reading it i am not prescribing the right emotions to it. Maybe a slaw in my reading skills yes, but all the same i cannot enjoy it. Plus, i am not spending my money on manga. It would probably be worth the buy still. I need my my for other things.

For those of you wondering - the very end of this arc (and of the anime itself) is left off for some reason. In the manga, this arc finishes in Volume 13 (which is where this episode is taking place, near the end of that volume). The manga is currently up to Volume 35. There is MUCH MORE to be told of this story - go find it and read it, it is TRULY amazing.

I loved this anime but not anymore, I mean wtf? Griffith rapes Casca in front of Guts, it would've been better killing everyone and letting Casca get stabbed by Griffith and die in Guts arms. @kb101ist i did read the manga. had to right after i finished it. and it still looks like she enjoyed it. the kissing and grinding and the "don't look" which made me even more depressed and more hate. then i took a joint and calmed down., watched everybody loves raymond and took a nice shower. went for a drink and kicked it with some friends. then as soon as i saw my computer screen, continued to hate.

@LysergIY Like I said at the start, yes it looks so but i think it's cause she thought it was gatts when she knew what was going on he cries moves her body to get away but it doesn't happen, sees gatts, tries to be strong by saying "don't watch" to reassure gatts that everything os ok, and then she loses her mind, which hopefully will get fixed soon and hopefully she'll decide to take revenge on the band of the hawk with gatts and kill grifiths!

Read chapter 102 page 5 where she says "no".. I at the last kiss before she said don't watch her mind had already gone because after that she just looks dazed and empty. The dribbling out of her mouth, he position on the floor, and the blank expression with the tear in her eyes, she's out of it at that point
