big thing i had trouble with this trick was that i was so used to skateboarding and i would always try to land straight and i would always slip out. but now i stick it everytime wake to wake, all you gotta do is land with a little edge.
so when do you pull? tried on trampoline and can do it easy, now got to try it on water, so when do you pull the rope in? while in the air? or right wakes tip? or where?
ok so ive been triying this the past couple days and i cant seem to get turned it feels so weird i used to skate so it was easier using my arms to spin so could taking my fins out help?
im new to wakeboarding.. i can get up ride and go side to side. i would like help if possible on what to do next. by board is a hyperlite and on each side there are 2 fixed and one removable fin. how should i do a surface 180?
First, take the fins off the board. The one fin on the bottom of the board on each side attached by two screws. Those got to go.
Then just keep your weight on your back feet and switch your legs. Make sure you always have your weight on your back leg. It really is a lot easier than it sounds.
take off all removable fins, lean back as you start to turn and get turning in a fluid motion. Be ready for the shift in your weight and keep your toeside edge out of the water as you start your spin. it can either help or hurt to do it while going over or on the top of a wake because less of your board is in the water making an easier turn but harder balance.
DO NOT START TOO EARLY if you do you will face plant from in the air... i did and hurt my balls:( also dont land on your heels 100% guarenteed you will not land it.
It's easier without fins, but you can do them with or without. I suggest removing fins, as it is easier. I took mine off today. It's a lot better without fins, and it's more fun.
i dont ride with fins either, but a few buddies of mine keep telling me to put them on! haha but i dont want to if it would make doing my 180 easier and plus, i ride just fine without them, do they really make that huge of a difference when edging?
I ride with fins...however I haven't had a chance to ride without fins and I can tell you it's not very forgiving if you don't land perfect almost. I'm not very good so of course it could be just me. I'm gonna try no fins next time I go out..I get the feeling it'll be a lot more forgiving and hopefully it'll give me a little bit more slippery feel. With fins I feel stuck sometimes.
It depends which way you're doing your 180. I lean back a little to avoid catching the water with the edges of my board and turn to my left(I ride regular). Also, removing the middle fin will help.
ya. if u snowboard try riding switch. it will help if u cant snowboard do surface 180s and ride around 4 a while. it might feel awkward cuz it did 4 me but just keep doin it and you will get it
If you use two hands for the air 180 it will make the trick more difficult. Notice how awkward he looks on land compared to when he does the trick on water (with one hand).
He is right about keeping the handle close to your hip, if you do that you'll stick it every time
need more detail.

First the awful slalom video, then a wake board video where you're trying to describe what someone else is doing.
WTF
Just let Ross describe what he's doing and you sit out, you're not an expert.

have the boat slow down to about 15 mph, and try them like that then slowly progress to faster speeds.

if ur bad u wont b able to make it if ur going slow cus the wake gets bigger
sk8erk39 2 years ago
you dont do it on the wake
you do it right in the middle of wake

yeah i tried fins and everytime i hit the opposite wake after my jump i would face plant..ouch right?
pinkblurr11 2 years ago
no, i would reccomend you taking the fins off for surface 180's and keep them off for air 180's.
Wakeboard4Ever1111 2 years ago
i can almost get an air 180 but cant come close 2 a surface 180. do i need 2 move my weight or take out my middle fin or wat?
