Ok seriously I don't see how toast masters teaches you how to overcome the anxiety felt when speaking in public. It seems like they just teach you how to be a better public speaker. How about the nervousness and anxiety you feel? Can anyone answer this.

@voncheezy Trust me, they help. This is just a retarded video. They help you do speeches and practice and train you so that you can learn to not feel nervous or anxious at all. It was my biggest fear and I swear, it helped so much. In the end, you will say WHY the hell was I so scared?

I'm a member of Toastmasters at Sheffield, Uk - and if our meetings were as stiff and formal as this I wouldn't go. Toastmasters the way I know it is fun, supportive and educational. The guys on this video are just plain scary.

@PerLiTasGirl Toastmaster bylaw says that you can not be an official member until age 18. The CEO of Toastmasters let me know himself, and I got a certificate. Anyone else is in The toastmasters youth leadership program...

Of course there are dues! Toastmasters is an international organization, and members have to pay VERY LOW dues for all of the training materials they receive, and for their monthly magazine. Clubs may also charge club dues. (I have no idea what the 3rd due is.)

Toastmasters International is the world's oldest and largest self-improvement organization. And it is a BARGAIN: you get a wealth of information for low cost. The organization is a USA NON-PROFIT organization.

The problem is that not all of us do. While TI does have its schedule, it gets really different between clubs, areas, divisions, and districts. And I know that each of the 7 regions are, well...nuts in comparison.
