While Cannabis may have more tar than tobacco, tobacco is sprayed with radioactive fertilizer which is the reason why people get cancer from it. Cannabinoids themselves are relitively harmless and actually help to balance most systems in the body. The hypocrisy is how booze and cigs are legal, but pot isn't.

Scientists did an experiment on lab monkeys were they were pumped marijuana smoke, and they did lose brain cells, but because of a lack of oxygen. They died from suffocation. If oxygen was pumped in, and the smoke fanned out, they would have survived.

So long as there is a welfare state that pays for the rehabilitation of drug abusers, you cannot legalize pot or any other drug because the welfare state rewards their use.
But our welfare system is designed to keep them on drugs or in prison. Maybe we should redesign the welfare system?

If you legalize drugs first, it'll only make eliminating the welfare state that much harder because politicians can sit there and continually dupe people into believing that the state must steal more money to pay for these welfare programs. I think we should put the same laws that are in effect on alcohol to cannabis, but even then cannabis would still be safer. Why? Because it is LITERALLY impossible to die of smoking too much weed. You also can't actually get addicted to it, only a mental addiction, so you wouldn't have to really get them into rehab.

It might not be considered rewarding bad behavior by sending someone through rehab, bear in mind they're not paying for it, and it doesn't really hurt them. I think rehab would probably work better if the patients had to work off the bill for their rehab.

Since alcohol and tobacco are both legal substances, the health pros and cons of pot relative to it's legality is moot point. It comes down to a matter of the preferential legislation, tainted public perception, and infringement on personal liberties. If it was legal, people still wouldn't be obligated to use it, as some seem to fear, and in fact, minors would likely likely have less access. Dealers don't check for ID's.

@anothersickman Sorry, I was a bit harsh with my comment. I didn't mean to anger anyone. To clarify, cigarettes are legal which have been proven to be extremely addicting and carcinogenic. While Cannabis may have more tar than tobacco, tobacco is sprayed with radioactive fertilizer which is the reason why people get cancer from it. Cannabinoids themselves are relitively harmless and actually help to balance most systems in the body. The hypocrisy is how booze and cigs are legal, but pot isn't.

Scientists did an experiment on lab monkeys were they were pumped marijuana smoke, and they did lose brain cells, but because of a lack of oxygen. They died from suffocation. If oxygen was pumped in, and the smoke fanned out, they would have survived.

This gateway drug should be banned. It is causing psychosis in individuals, such as this kid in Arizona who shot the congresswoman. There are no consistent studies to suggest that medical marijuana is necessary to alleviate pain. Any pain component that is provided by the TCH could be put into pill form and not smoked.

If we went back in time and told our founding fathers that Marijuana was outlawed in 1938, what would they think. Now if you look at it this way, 6.3 million Americans abuse illegal drugs when you don't count people who smoke pot only.
So if marijuana is a gateway drug, then why is it that 16.7 million Americans smoke pot, but only 6.3 million use other drugs.

So long as there is a welfare state that pays for the rehabilitation of drug abusers, you cannot legalize pot or any other drug because the welfare state rewards their use.

If you legalize drugs first, it'll only make eliminating the welfare state that much harder because politicians can sit there and continually dupe people into believing that the state must steal more money to pay for these welfare programs. I think we should put the same laws that are in effect on alcohol to cannabis, but even then cannabis would still be safer. Why? Because it is LITERALLY impossible to die of smoking too much weed. You also can't actually get addicted to it, only a mental addiction, so you wouldn't have to really get them into rehab.

It might not be considered rewarding bad behavior by sending someone through rehab, bear in mind they're not paying for it, and it doesn't really hurt them. I think rehab would probably work better if the patients had to work off the bill for their rehab.
