@radiofun232 Yes, but first from DC to 3-Phase (50 Hz) and with transformers in some substations to 400/230V 3-Phase with neutral in your home. The bipolar HVDC-line with +/- 800 kV will be build in China and has a length of 1400 km
@radiofun232 Yes, at the end of the line the DC voltage will be converted to AC. The huge AC power will be fed into the regional AC transmission and distribution grid and distributed over several steps (e.g. 800/420/220/60/10/0.4 kV) to the different consumers like cities, villages, industries, buildings and finally also households with 230 V 50 Hz sockets.
There we go. German Nazi tech companies creating and selling super dangerous transmission configs to only China, India, Africa and South America.... you know the dangerous shit that they would never use in their own countries/continents...
I calculate design things like ... high voltage transmission lines and substations transformers, 3 phase electric motors, coils electromagnetism, etc...
you can "bend the rules of phsyics" with high frequency electro-magnetic energy, etc...
So. ... it also applies to "The Grid".
The article wikipedia article "War of Currents" looks like simple NLP capitalistic BS.
@DuralastTurbo there is a difference between humans burning TONS of fossilized material at exponential rates, and the natural CO2 we get from the earth.
Is global warming real? I have no fucking idea nor do i care. But there is NO doubt we are pumping WAY more Co2 into the atomoshpere then we were 150 years ago.
@sk8er4ever0101 More CO2 is given off in N E of the zillions of volcano eruptions than all industry in human history. Pick an Eruption - 4 instance, Iceland recently - more 'co2' & other 'harmful' stuff than produced by all human pollution, ever.
Go on with your SUICIDE BULL$HIT, carbon tax retard. Y don't U just slit your own throat right now - U know, 2 'save the planet' HAHAHA idiot.
@sk8er4ever0101 Good luck with your kill-the-messenger dance. Nothing U spew changes the easily verifiable scientific fact that nearly every volcanic eruption on Earth spews out more CO2 & other pollutants than all industry in the history of civilization. Would U like some hard stats, or R U just gonna' sit there farting your 'breathing tax' dogma?
U R a religious nutter. Your religion is suicide. U should really vollow your own advices & off yourself 2 'save the planet'.
@sk8er4ever0101 U cannot possibly B dumb enough 2 believe your own bull$hit. U R just trolling. 4 instance, higher temperature on Earth INCREASES life, as it stimulates growth in cold, otherwise frozen regions. Canada & Russia 4 instance R mostly frozen places, & would become bigger 4 farming =) Also, sea & other life explodes, along with more rain (evaporating seas). As even a retard like U knows, the Dinosour age was much hotter, & much more 'lively'. Go on, suicide clown.
Well it has taken only 100 years, it seems Nicola Tesla is finally vindicated for choosing DC for power transmission, as opposed to Thomas Edisons' AC system.
@trespire DC is more efficient, but it is more expencive for short distance, because the transformers still have to turn itback to AC to convert the voltage, and DC converters as you know are much more expencive, and much less safe to use. Bare in mind that if a DC line has been cut for some reason it acts as a big capacitor charged at enourmus voltages...
@trespire PS. Tesla invented AC, he also invented AC motors, transformers and also RF transmitters... And not to forget the most useles, but cool looking thing the TESLA COIL!!!
Tesla coil is useless because people build it to make sparks, not scalar electromagnetic experimentation. Funny how most of the 800kv gear looked like something out of teslas lab.. he use HV LF for scalar em...
@trespire Westinghause and Tesla supported AC, only Edison was for DC but NOT for practical reasons - back then DC transmission was in no way feasible and AC was vastly superior! The normal way to change the voltage in powerlines is using transformers, these only work with AC - in DC Transmission Systems you have to convert DC to AC, transform it and then rectify it again to DC: It's only possible with modern day electronics! Tesla/Westinghouse was definitely right back then!

Are these huge DC Voltages converted to AC (let us say 230 V at 50 Hz) at the end of the line and/or how is that done?

The engineering demonstrated is fascinating, but one of anything can fail in lots of ways.

thomas edison... wanted DC for profit...
Tesla invented AC because of much higher eficiency... up to wireless power transmission
requiring no cables...
200 bilions dollars spent on desinformation agents ... starts to make sense sometimes

Is your 800 kV system unipolar (i.e. 800 kV from line to ground), or bipolar?
And if bipolar are the + and - both 800 kV with respect to ground (for 1.6 MV between + and - lines)?

So DC is more efficient after all.
