All of you who keep telling him to thank God and never forget what gog did for him should shut their stupid mouths. God gives alot of people talents and ways to make money. @Shiftee88 the people in the documentary are actually very well versed in english for the most part. And the can all speak the own native dialects. Can you say the same?. There are bigger things at stake here.

Although I am yet to read most of the comments that have been posted, I just want to say that I am sick of hearing rants about how BBC 'projected Lagos in a negative light' and how they 'got their facts wrong' and how they limited themselves to the 'dirty parts of the country'. I think that is all pointless and that they have done more than the government would ever have done to help this man. I am happy for him and I think you should electrocute yourself if you feel anything but contentment.
@Sekinatu2333 we should all let it rest. the BBC didnt put Lagos in a negative light. it rather put the light on negative Lagos. they didnt get their facts wrong. but they didnt provide ALL the facts. it was more of Welcome to Lagos: some of it. the BBC didnt do anything for VS. they didnt promote his cause and it was rather the good hearts of Nigerians here who did more for him than the government.
@AkubaCAB it just so happens that d good hearts of Nigerians here became active around d same time that BBC did d documentary on Lagos. BBC cannot possibly have done ALL parts of Lagos and we know that d dirty disgusting parts by far outweigh d nice parts so that was a pretty good summary. Also who cares anyway? How does d standard of living of those destitute pple in Makoko improve by BBC showing the nicer parts of Lagos? BBC gave a voice to the pple who would otherwise have never gotten one.

WHO EVER DIRECTED THIS VIDEO NEEDZ TO BE STONED TO DEATH, THEY JUS RUINED A VERY GOOD TUNE, THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A PERFORMANCE VIDEO. I WISH MR V. SLENDER HE BEST
@xforbaby i thought similar to that .. i think that making a vid that just kept cutting in BBC clips just solidifies the novelty around him.. when will we allow him to just be Vocal Slender - the same Vocal Slender that the BBC found in Lagos.. we need to stop calling him "BBC2's Vocal Slender" or "Vocal Slender from Welcome to Lagos" or anything of that sort...
Wow. I'm actually very proud of of you VS! Your suffering shall not be in vein. Count your blessing and name them one by one for God has touched your life.
Wow. I'm actually very proud of of you VC! Your suffering shall not be in vein. Count your blessing and name them one by one for God has touched your life.
@Adetolaism what an idiot. you're probably one of them shielded vgc-lekki-victoria island-ikoyi kids. open your eyes & go downtown. see whats happening right under your own nose in your country & expand your horizon. omo butter.
Great example of what happens when dreams are given wings. The political class in Nigeria clipped this young man's wings for years! If there is a perfect example of what will happen to the thousands of Vocal Slenders in Nigeria when we shake off the corrupt politicians and give opportunity to our talents, then the story if Vocal Slender is.
SLENDER!!! NO b small tin! This guy is too much, in fact- MY GOD IS TOO MUCH! Look what the Lord has done for him! The BBC thought they could spoil Nigeria's reputation and embarass Vocal Slender, instead, they gave way for Nigerian's who care about their fellow Nigerian to assist him and now look at him... OWO TI YAPA SI OUN!!! Continue man, nothing do you Slender!
@YvonneIle actually without the BBC program vocal slender wont be where he is today.... so no BBC didn't do anything wrong!! and BBC didn't try to destroy anyone's image..that is the reality in Nigeria.. i'm a Nigerian
@YvonneIle yeah you have a point there.. you know how it is in the western world. they always have stereotypes and all, its really sad...i feel like the program was kinda unnecessary, its like stating the obvious, its not like BBC helped in making the place better or anything.
@tuna519 yh, its like that here. stereotype is an understatment... it was VERY unnecessary for them to wake up and decide to make a show about Lagos. they didnt help at all, they merely documented on the situatuation and some of their 'facts' were WRONG,
@YvonneIle@YvonneIle@YvonneIle@YvonneIle Sorry to burst your bubble but NO, Majority of British citizens do not live in abject poverty and there IS a middle class. Uneducated citizens are TYPICALLY those who chose not to go to school and human life is NOT worth 6p. In Lagos and Nigeria as a whole, MOST people are destitute and have little or no access to an education to better themselves. There does not have to be a documentary on poverty in London for there to be one Lagos.
@Sekinatu2333 Yeah well i beg to differ. I live in London though the majority of British citizens are middle class, 53% are still below middle class and a large number claim benefits. Though the literacy levels in the uk are 98% and 99% there are still idiots but yes, it is of their own choice and its now the law that children must remain in school up to the age of 18. and i dont care WHAT you say, you can NEVER put a price on human life. I rate you for trying though.
@YvonneIle blah blah blah is all I can hear. Did you even read my comment? 6p is figurative. It just means that people get killed in that country over the pettiest reasons you can imagine and there is no system in place to bring anyone to justice. So what is the worth of human life if a police officer can kill a bus driver for not giving him 20naira or 100 naira or whatever it is that they collect now?? In Nigeria, you CAN put price on human life and it is very very inexpensive.
@Sekinatu2333 Did you read my comment? If you wanna argue over the internet, go ahead. As for me, I've said what I wanted to say. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I don't think my original comment was offensive but if the BBC wanna contact me to talk about it- which they obviously wont- they can. You clearly have strong views about this issue which is good. Nigeria needs people like you to help through the struggle but trust me, a youtube argument isn't worth it. Stop here.
@Sekinatu2333 There's no need for you to try to educate me...someone needs to educate the Nigerian government. No there doesnt but I dont see how it hurts you.
@YvonneIle girl or guy what are you saying for heavens sake??? Typical Nigerian/African mentality..."SOMEONE needs to educate the Nigerian government" "...but i'll sit on my fat ass and rant about how BBC ruined Nigeria" Stay there and be waiting for the messiah to send the someone. It is ironic how you fume at any negative publicity concerning our country (even when it is true) but you can't be bothered to make the much needed change. Don't worry, God would send the SOMEONE in no time.
2.Yes SOMEONE. You're obviously SMARTER thn everybody else and KNOW what you're talking about so tell me...
What can a 14 year old girl born and raised in London do for her country? The BBC are waste. Yeah ok, i'll wait for the 'Messiah' to come down from heaven and sort out Nigeria. Yeah, I fume at 'any negative publicity' but do NOTHING about it. Nigeria must be the worst country in Africa and no other country in the world is as bad as ours. Funny how ignorance blinds
@YvonneIle I think our government destroyed our reputation and BBC owes nobody any apologies for broadcasting people like Vocal Slender on national TV. Too bad we did not have enough make-up and cologne to cover the rot and stench of our nation. I am happy for him and ever grateful to BBC.
@Sekinatu2333 Yeah, they probably did. That may be YOUR OPINION but I'm tired of the BBC belittling Africans. Because of that show, there was a BIG argument between Nigerians and Ghanaians (though they havent always seen eye-to-eye) but yeah...
Rot and stench? ok then. Yeah be happy for him. I am too but to the BBC? I wont.
@YvonneIle bahahahahaha!!! The decaying state of Nigeria and Africa as a whole compared to other third world countries did not belittle us enough. The embarrassing and criminal activities that our citizens are involved in home and abroad is not the one that belittled us. It is BBC that smeared our 'fine' image. What a wonderful public image we had before darn BBC came and defamed us. Why can't we take responsibility for our daftness and backwardness as a nation???
@Sekinatu2333 Its people like YOU who tarnish our image even more! Do you need to remain hung up on this fraud thing (i assume it's fraud)? Last time I checked, I was not involved in 'criminal activity' so why say 'we'? Dont generalise because a few idiots from Nigeria decide to embarass us around the world... Yes, we have problems. Yes, we need to work on it. No, arguing about it is not helping. Other countries have problems too... Look at the US and George Bush. Theyre FAR from perfect!
@Sekinatu2333 The thing I dont get is that, you're sitting wherever you are telling me the BBC owes no apologies and they did nothing wrong yet apart from Vocal Slender, what good did the show do? The BBC had no intentions of making him a star so what was the benefit of the show? Did they make Nigerians more aware? Did they make the British more aware? IT DIDNT MAKE A DIFFERENCE! I dont know ONE white person who watched it. you're saying we should electrocute ourselves? THUNDER FIRE YOUR HEAD!
@YvonneIle Yes. Matter of fact, they made Nigerians more aware because in the 18 years of my life I spent living in Nigeria, I knew of no such place as Makoko. I don't see how BBC is obliged to make anyone a star. Ummm...so if no white person watched it does that mean the message was not passed across? How does that affect the price of fish in Lagos market? If it did not make a difference we won't be here talking about it. Vocal Slender can tell you it DID make a difference.
@Sekinatu2333 Lemme retract those comments. Something you and Slender said struck a chord with me and I actually want to thank you. I think both of us are being selfish by blindly arguing about something, drawing attention to ourselves when the message and the video is about Vocal Slender. Its supposed to be about some coming from nothing to something and acheiving something GREAT. Slender, Mr CokoBar, I apologise. Sekinatu, let's just end this here. And yeah, i retract my insulting comments.
wow....this is really great slender, from grass to grace.....

WHO EVER DIRECTED THIS VIDEO NEEDZ TO BE STONED TO DEATH, THEY JUS RUINED A VERY GOOD TUNE, THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A PERFORMANCE VIDEO. I WISH MR V. SLENDER HE BEST
xforbaby 1 year ago
@xforbaby i thought similar to that .. i think that making a vid that just kept cutting in BBC clips just solidifies the novelty around him.. when will we allow him to just be Vocal Slender - the same Vocal Slender that the BBC found in Lagos.. we need to stop calling him "BBC2's Vocal Slender" or "Vocal Slender from Welcome to Lagos" or anything of that sort...

Thank you BBC!

YvonneIle 1 year ago
@YvonneIle actually without the BBC program vocal slender wont be where he is today.... so no BBC didn't do anything wrong!! and BBC didn't try to destroy anyone's image..that is the reality in Nigeria.. i'm a Nigerian
tuna519 1 year ago
@tuna519 Ok fair enough. Do you see a Welcome to London anywhere? Thats the reality in Nigeria but it's also the reality in England!
YvonneIle 1 year ago
@YvonneIle yeah you have a point there.. you know how it is in the western world. they always have stereotypes and all, its really sad...i feel like the program was kinda unnecessary, its like stating the obvious, its not like BBC helped in making the place better or anything.
tuna519 1 year ago
@tuna519 yh, its like that here. stereotype is an understatment... it was VERY unnecessary for them to wake up and decide to make a show about Lagos. they didnt help at all, they merely documented on the situatuation and some of their 'facts' were WRONG,
YvonneIle 1 year ago
@YvonneIle @YvonneIle @YvonneIle @YvonneIle Sorry to burst your bubble but NO, Majority of British citizens do not live in abject poverty and there IS a middle class.
Sekinatu2333 1 year ago
@Sekinatu2333 Yeah well i beg to differ. I live in London though the majority of British citizens are middle class, 53% are still below middle class and a large number claim benefits. Though the literacy levels in the uk are 98% and 99% there are still idiots but yes, it is of their own choice and its now the law that children must remain in school up to the age of 18. and i dont care WHAT you say, you can NEVER put a price on human life. I rate you for trying though.
YvonneIle 1 year ago
@YvonneIle blah blah blah is all I can hear. Did you even read my comment? 6p is figurative. It just means that people get killed in that country over the pettiest reasons you can imagine and there is no system in place to bring anyone to justice. So what is the worth of human life if a police officer can kill a bus driver for not giving him 20naira or 100 naira or whatever it is that they collect now?? In Nigeria, you CAN put price on human life and it is very very inexpensive.
Sekinatu2333 1 year ago
@Sekinatu2333 Did you read my comment? If you wanna argue over the internet, go ahead. As for me, I've said what I wanted to say. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I don't think my original comment was offensive but if the BBC wanna contact me to talk about it- which they obviously wont- they can. You clearly have strong views about this issue which is good. Nigeria needs people like you to help through the struggle but trust me, a youtube argument isn't worth it. Stop here.
YvonneIle 1 year ago
@Sekinatu2333 There's no need for you to try to educate me...someone needs to educate the Nigerian government. No there doesnt but I dont see how it hurts you.
YvonneIle 1 year ago
@YvonneIle girl or guy what are you saying for heavens sake??? Typical Nigerian/African mentality..."SOMEONE needs to educate the Nigerian government" "...but i'll sit on my fat ass and rant about how BBC ruined Nigeria" Stay there and be waiting for the messiah to send the someone. It is ironic how you fume at any negative publicity concerning our country (even when it is true) but you can't be bothered to make the much needed change. Don't worry, God would send the SOMEONE in no time.
Sekinatu2333 1 year ago
@Sekinatu2333 1. Girl
YvonneIle 1 year ago
@YvonneIle I think our government destroyed our reputation and BBC owes nobody any apologies for broadcasting people like Vocal Slender on national TV. Too bad we did not have enough make-up and cologne to cover the rot and stench of our nation. I am happy for him and ever grateful to BBC.
Sekinatu2333 1 year ago
@Sekinatu2333 Yeah, they probably did. That may be YOUR OPINION but I'm tired of the BBC belittling Africans. Because of that show, there was a BIG argument between Nigerians and Ghanaians (though they havent always seen eye-to-eye) but yeah...
Rot and stench? ok then. Yeah be happy for him. I am too but to the BBC? I wont.
YvonneIle 1 year ago
@YvonneIle bahahahahaha!!! The decaying state of Nigeria and Africa as a whole compared to other third world countries did not belittle us enough. The embarrassing and criminal activities that our citizens are involved in home and abroad is not the one that belittled us. It is BBC that smeared our 'fine' image. What a wonderful public image we had before darn BBC came and defamed us. Why can't we take responsibility for our daftness and backwardness as a nation???
Sekinatu2333 1 year ago
@Sekinatu2333 Its people like YOU who tarnish our image even more! Do you need to remain hung up on this fraud thing (i assume it's fraud)? Last time I checked, I was not involved in 'criminal activity' so why say 'we'? Dont generalise because a few idiots from Nigeria decide to embarass us around the world... Yes, we have problems. Yes, we need to work on it. No, arguing about it is not helping. Other countries have problems too... Look at the US and George Bush. Theyre FAR from perfect!
YvonneIle 1 year ago
@Sekinatu2333 The thing I dont get is that, you're sitting wherever you are telling me the BBC owes no apologies and they did nothing wrong yet apart from Vocal Slender, what good did the show do? The BBC had no intentions of making him a star so what was the benefit of the show? Did they make Nigerians more aware? Did they make the British more aware? IT DIDNT MAKE A DIFFERENCE! I dont know ONE white person who watched it. you're saying we should electrocute ourselves? THUNDER FIRE YOUR HEAD!
YvonneIle 1 year ago
@YvonneIle Yes. Matter of fact, they made Nigerians more aware because in the 18 years of my life I spent living in Nigeria, I knew of no such place as Makoko. I don't see how BBC is obliged to make anyone a star. Ummm...so if no white person watched it does that mean the message was not passed across? How does that affect the price of fish in Lagos market? If it did not make a difference we won't be here talking about it. Vocal Slender can tell you it DID make a difference.
Sekinatu2333 1 year ago
@Sekinatu2333 Lemme retract those comments. Something you and Slender said struck a chord with me and I actually want to thank you. I think both of us are being selfish by blindly arguing about something, drawing attention to ourselves when the message and the video is about Vocal Slender. Its supposed to be about some coming from nothing to something and acheiving something GREAT. Slender, Mr CokoBar, I apologise. Sekinatu, let's just end this here. And yeah, i retract my insulting comments.
