Whatever your feelings about the war, the song is about a lot more than that. Don't take it so literally, it's music. We all have lost from that war and many other's. I didnt lose anyone, but I served, its just a message & music.
One of Bruce Springsteen's finest moments, the final chorus of "It's Alright, It's Alright, It's Alright Yeah! wells up some of the saddest most powerful imagery ever recorded.
I remember I was actually in love when I first heard this song.
It was pretty awesome - at work I was mostly walking around smiling for myself and didn't care what the others were thinking, and whenever I took the car I would listen to this just because it was the first song I heard before our first date. ^^
11xzxzxz you say your not a big fan of Springsteen yet you like Hungry Heart / Atlantic City/ Dancing in the Dark/ Born in the USA/ Glory Days / Spirit in the Night/ Tunnel of Love / Brilliant Disguise/ Rosalita and "OUT ON the STREETs" ..
It's clear you are a closet Bruce lover just liberate yourself by coming out of the closet and admitting that Bruce Springsteen is truly the "Boss"
Also like Hungry Heart / Atlantic City/ Dancing in the Dark/ Born in the USA/ Glory Days / Spirit in the Night/ Tunnel of Love / Brilliant Disguise/ Rosalita / and I really like "OUT ON the STREET" ..
it was abou 9/11 because I was watching his boigraphy on TV. then, it said that he was driving somewhere in New Jersey and some guy stopped his car. he said Bruce we need you now more than ever.(this happened 2-4 days after 9/11) thats how the rising came out. so you are correct.
Anytime I can gaze upon this Hot Irish/Italian talented hunk it's alright for me. And about the other side of the world, I have friends over there, my Nephew served over there and is still suffering. So take your sarcasm elsewhere please. My Dad was a 3 war veteran that fought on different war fronts so that you can have your freedom of speech. Please be respectful of others and what they are doing.
Thank you 1meanmick. I had and have many of friends and family who has served these wars thought ot the years. I just hate it when people show disrespect. THe Boss is all about doing the right thing and his music has always stood the test of time...
This song is classic just when I thought bruce ran out of steam he released this classic LP'The Rising"..Tell you how much I know..Springsteen kicks ass!!!
am i the only 1 who DOES NOT giv 2 fucks about a stupid war over th othr side of the world? 2 of my family members died in that shit war nd i dnt come on 2 bruce springsteen videos 2 hear poeple talk about it. be mature bout it and dont respond to one another
this song was playing in the operating room when my daughter was born. it is a great song and it always makes me happy despite being kind of a sad song. thanks for posting it!
Lonesome Day??? So where you on the Iraq War Springsteen where your fellow American Tortured and Murdered over One Million Iraqis!!! I guess you were counting your Multi-Millions in your Mansion in Beverly Hills right???? Fuck You Bruce!!!
First Off he don't live in Beverly Hills...The only people that matter who live in beverly hills are the clampets :P he still lives in Freehold NJ. Second Bruce has been against the war....he even said so.
Whe did the Americans murder and torture 1 million Iraqis? I think you mean Saddam Hussein.
Anyway, I love this song. I went to my first Springsteen concert a couple weeks ago - it was the best concert I've ever been to. I'm loving his work with the E Street Band.

@rickyp17 You hit the nail on the head with a sledgehammer. 4,000+ lives lost for the sake of war profiteering.
