  • sounds good, i just bouht a new or older roper garden tractor. 11hp briggs and straton motor. needs work but starts and drives all for $25

  • i have exactly the same model but it is quite hard to find info on it

  • What was the guy who owned it doing? Letting his kid use the engine area as a sandbox?

  • what year is that because i have a craftsmen garden tractor gt6000 i think it is a 93

  • I have the same exact mower. It's called GTK 20 (even though it has a 18hp briggs). It's called a Winston Pro.

  • It sounds freaking awesome!!

  • awsome i have sub you :)

  • Just bought one! Identical, I think. Runs, drives, cuts AND (most importantly), the LIGHTS work!!! Steering linkage is pretty sloppy -- I'll need to figure that one out and I'm not sure the deck lift is quite right, but it runs, drives, cuts AND the lights work (worth repeating). Thanks for your enthusiastic endorsement of the Roper -- didn't know I shoudl be so thrilled. $250.00. Was that a deal?!!

  • why does that engine sound so great!!?? Love your buds guys

  • I have the exact same tractor. The trans shifts; but no movement to the wheels. It is my in-laws, and they are too old to fix it. If you have ANY manual/ document/ parts info; you'd be doing good for good people.

  • I'd turn this one into a big ol' mud bogger with a lot of power and quad tires.

  • Do you still have this tractor?

  • sounds like my bros s10 with its little 2.2L 4 banger

  • Hey Lynol,

Do you still have this GTK and the other "parts" tractor that you got running? BTW I love the sound of that Kohler twin. I just got my 15 horse Magnum twin running and man is it a beast! smooth, torquey, heck it's probably the best motor I've ever worked on.

  • i just got an old ass sears craftsman eager 1 today im so happy its so cool

  • another way to tell if it similar to a craftsman is that the fender in the back is similar to the back fenders on a larger craftsman LT 4000 or an old craftsman with a 44inch deck and an 18HP briggs motor from about 1989.

  • those magnums are awesome! they are the best and toughest built motors opposed twin motors that I have ever seen.

  • haha horizontal ive never seen one come stock with horizontal shaft

  • that roper frame is astoundingly similar to the one on my GT6000.

  • @lobsterbox20 Oh yeah, this is the same frame on the Craftsmans. I think this rail style frame was used from 1980 until 2004.

  • oh and another thing, since my GT6000 has the same transmission, Do you know what kind it is (peerless, spicer or foote) and what kind of torque/towing power it is rated for?

    thanks

  • @LynolsOffice It looks similar to the one on my old pos murray that has since died from ways I will say were my fault (hammer and an air rifle)

  • That would make a great tow rig!!

    i wish i had one.

  • Nice tractors! That engine sounds pretty healthy. That thing was DIRTY!!!

  • too quiet you should make it staight pipe

  • I have an old roper garden tractor, not this series though i think its much older than that, it has an 11hp briggs engine in it the engine starts fine and all its just the throttle seems to do nothing when you move it it just stays at an idle and wont budge to rev, any ideas of how to fix it?

  • You've checked to make sure everything is hooked up properly? Could be a governor problem, does it idle well, or is it rough?

  • it idles kind of rough at first when its running cold (put in mind its a single cyl) but when it warms up it runs really smoothly and the rpm increases, im not quite sure if the throttles connected properly its a fair bit dirty ill give it a clean and see if i can find the problem, thanks.

  • Whats the EASIEST to maintain and work on, when in comes to tractors, that know of??

  • Love the sound of a Kohler opposed twin in the morning!

You guys should put that beast against the FF20 in a tug of war!

  • Any possibility you'd sell the hi lo range transaxle with tires and all?

  • No, as a matter of fact I'm trying to buy trans parts for the other twin of this tractor.

  • ok, i'd love to have that hi lo range thing on my craftsman, i pull alot of large logs out of the bush with it, and the lo range would be nice

  • and, i need to put new brake pads on mine, but I cant get the left wheel off, seized to hell, ive tried heating it, hgitting it, pulling it, ntohing works

  • It's identical to my Western Auto Wizard, just a different color, mine has a 18hp Vanguard though.

  • man that thing sounds nice,i hope my v twin sounds like that,it's a 18 hp with a 26 crankshaft with an upgraded cam and a shaved head.

  • not sure how those tires got so blade. Have a cub cadet (made by IH) that is at least 25 - 30 years old with orginal tires. Still has plenty of thread, just starting to fall apart more lol.

  • I don't know. Must have driven it on the road a lot, lol!

  • i realy need a roper yt16 deck!!!!!!!!!!

any idea where i can get one???

  • thats a nice tractor i like murray curtis has been calling me agy for having a murray at my house curtis is in candc aka (colin and curtis

  • i have a roper just like this.

good mower and the kohler is so stout.

  • you should check out the bolt pattern on that lawn tractor. i think it might be a small bolt chevy pattern?

  • LOL!

  • sounds like it needs a carb rebuild and you should see the front tire on my cub cadet it is almost as bald as that one

  • Yeah, it may need one. It's like that when it's cold, when it's fully warmed it runs well.

  • So cool. I just bot a GT180BR Roper "Garden Tractor" with 18HP horizontal Briggs 422xxx engine. I really like it.

But the Kohler is better I guess.

Trying to find a dozer blade for it.

  • Hmm, This Roper has a cool Exhaust Note!

  • what do u mean a lift. is that like a 3 point hitch on a farm tractor if it is were can u get one. and my grandpa has a craftsman with a kholer magnum and that thing is strong as hell. we take up 10 log posts on a wagon up a huge hill and it doesnt even bog down. garden tractors r worth it.

  • Mine has a Hdryo lift... Its A deere :)

  • Cool. This one had a hydraulic lift as an option when new. Can't imagine how much it would have cost then. Sears sells the kits now for $500.

  • u get both the ropers running, i need a engine, for my cub cadet, horizontal shaft but it has to be 1 1/8 diameter, have anything?

  • ill buy this from you

  • I have one of those, did they ever have a dozer blade for them?

  • Anything Sears sold for their garden tractors will fit this. They shared the same frame up until 2005.

  • so what would be the craftsman version of this roper? cause Im looking at a craftsman that is an exact copy of this roper. same electric pto and same trans and everything. any idea? I was thinking a Craftsman III...but Idk.

  • Sears probably had a dozen different names for their version, GT6000 was one of the more common named ones.

  • thanks dude. I cant wait to get it. Its got a sleeve hitch and a plow. Yay garden! lol

  • What a beast! Does that thang, or any of your tractors, have a hydraulic lift?

  • hey i got the same engine and uhm i plan on making it a pulling mower.... but i need to find a new carb can u message me if you know any sites for parts and other things that help me out making it a beast message me

  • my murray has that hitch plate on the rear. and came with all the attachments for free

  • wut r u going to do with it

  • Thats exactly like my Yard Pro Estate Series....The only difference is the transmission and mine is vertical shaft...The tractors are identical.....Where you located?

  • I have the same Yard Pro as you said, but I do have the 6 speed and the 50" deck. Is yours the hydro?

  • hay do u still hav that tractor i will give u 400 bucks for it plus ill throw in another 80 bucks if u haul it to Port Trevorton Pa

  • what is the point of a high and low transel is low to plow mow

is high to pull a cart around

  • Yeah I think low would be good for heavy chores like pushing a plow, running a snowthrower attachment, pulling something real heavy, and probably mowing. I think it was really just a way of making a 3 speed trans have 6 gears though.

  • can u give me a list of old mtd engine parts u have an put a price on all of it?

  • I don't really have any MTD parts, I'm not really into them. Mostly Craftsman- Roper/AYP/Husqvarna stuff

  • what type of engine is your favorite . my favorite is kohler

  • Yeah mine too. Hondas are good too, but they don't make real big ones like Kohler.

  • That thing sounds like a bat out of hell...

    COOL!!!

  • when did you get the roper

  • thats a nice tractor

  • nice that things a beast

  • It sounds like a big diesel, it's awesome!

  • yeah it is

  • i could spend all day revving my opposed briggs. lol

  • hum...garden tractor, nice to see new material on your channel. yep you seem to have a thing about ropers! its all good from where i'm a sittin!

    thanks for the video...

  • that thing looks really nice all cleaned up! how many ropers do guys have now?

  • I guess 10 now. Although ones a heap, it's just for parts.

  • hey this is josh, my riding mower has a problem. the blades slow down when im mowing. the belts are on all the pulleys. what can i do to fix it.

  • Are you sure the belt is tight? The belts can stretch over time and cause slippage. The one on my neighbors Craftsman stretched almost two inches and kept falling off.

  • Where did you find another hood for this tractor? Do the 5 or 6 identical Ropers use the same hood?

  • Yeah, I took one off of the other Ropers. We've got 10 Ropers now. The early 70's one, the three identical LT11s, the LT12, another LT11, the two twin cylinders, the parts LT12, and the LT11 Dave's dad bought new in 1984.

  • Wow! I guess if people are looking for a second-hand Roper dealer, you guys are the people to go to! Believe me, if I lived anywhere near you guys, I would be up there and checking out all of the tractors!

  • All right! You've done it again Lynol! PTO, brake lights... thats a true Garden Tractor! Congrats!

  • Way cool! That Roper has the same chassis as my craftsman garden tractors- even the decks- just the motors are different.

Bad news tho- the 86's deck mandrels are rusted up so bad and you supposedly cant replace the berings- new ones go for around $85...... ill haveta see if i cant somehow get em apart n fix them cheeper- otherwise i just might use it w/o the deck for a while....

  • Very nice set of tractors, the ending was perfect. Good Work, love to see it.

  • Nice tractor Lynol! thats a funky motor. im gonna put up a slideshow of the Yard-Man's transformation in the next couple days. when u watch it you will be shocked!

  • That thing sounds like it runs great how much you pay for it?

  • Great to see that you guys got some real machines. It's all about the 5-lug hubs. Thumbs Up!

  • Very nice piece you got. Looks like they didn't change the frame design at all. My 1975 Roper has the same frame and the same rear axle. The sales paper says that it weighs about 550 pounds+probably another 100 with the deck!

  • geeze you guys always get the good stuff and I get the crap :p. Gotta love Kohler, sounds beautiful music to my ears.

  • That thing looks worlds better cleaned up.

We used to have an OLD Ford tractor, motor was just like that 2 cyl. It was a beast, 3 blades, hydrostatic, everything. Never got it to run though, the carb had a broken mount. Sold it last summer for 30.00 at an auction.
