Theodore Dubois is nog steeds een beetje ondergewaardeerd als componist.

Maar deze prachtige Toccata is een goed voorbeeld hoe goed deze ingetogen man in zijn tijd was. Een meester op het Cavaille Coll orgel van de Madeleine in Parijs..

Gelukkig zijn er prachtige CD's in omloop met zijn boeiende (soms eenvoudige) en prachtige muziek.

Triumphant, brilliant, visionary and audibly thrilling! I believe this recording is from 1993 ("Great Toccatas" on Erato) with supervision and sound engineering by Martine Guers. This is an awesome acoustic space and a formidable instrument, certainly one of Cavaille-Coll's best. Marie-Claire Alain understands the nature and character of this Theodore Dubois piece so well, granting unfettered access to heavenly harmonies, exalted rhythms and a majesty of conception rarely achieved.
