Pretty idiotic that 2 and 3 wasnt the same grapics and feel to it as nr 1. then they would be more awesomer imo. nr 1 is 10000000000000000000 better then 2and3 combined
::.applauds you.:: Well done. Thank you for doing this. I was gonna do this myself before I quit doing LPs because it is a fabulous game and deserves to be shown.
You realise, of course, that if this doesn't end with a massive transvestite orgy to a catchy song and dance number I will be thoroughly disappointed.
...Then games like the Broken Sword series and Toonstruck came along into the mix and were really heavily marketed too so then we went for those and by the end of all that I think Sierra was gone. Resulka, LateBlt and Hercrabbyness are my excellent source for all things Sierra that I missed out on :)
@beatchef Heh. It's Hercrabbiness. She get's a little more crabby when people get it wrong. Here in Australia, both were really obscure for every day usage, I don't think Adventure games really figured high on people my age when they had Mario and Sonic to Duel it out. I've always been more Sierra then Lucasarts. Nothing against Lucasarts, Hell Maniac Mansion is my favourite game of all time! But I love loved the details of the stories more from Sierra.
@Resulka Ack, I've seen the name written down a thousand times and the first time I type it myself I spell it wrong. It's something I'd instantly spot and correct but Youtube comments are a one shot deal. Sorry Hercrabbiness, if you're reading this.
By the way Resulka, I have a friend originally from the same area as you. She does the same 'heh' and has the same laugh. Sometimes when I'm watching your LPs it's uncanny. It's the one and only time I've pegged a non UK regional accent :)
@beatchef That's funny. I picked up my Heh from a hungarian relative. Although she literally said Heh, Not the half laugh it's supposed to be, that well. I kept it unless I type it. And I've never met anyone who has a laugh like me before. Specially when I laugh properly. If I really like something I clap at the same time. Obviously that doesn't translate well into this sort of medium but I'm sure now and then I have clapped when I've laughed.
I grew up on Lucasarts adventures with my cousins and friends and never even saw a Sierra one for sale. It's made out that it's Lucasarts - Sierra, Nintendo - Sega, Coke - Pepsi but here in the UK I don't remember the magazines even covering any Sierra adventures with the exception of Phantasmagoria. Lucasarts had so many heavy hitters in a row that we were constantly entertained and never went looking for anything else.
@vglp33 I haven't played or otherwise seen any Gabriel Knight games before. I'm just watching through the beginning of Resulka's Gabriel Knight 2 LP now, skipping 1. Also no doubt annoying her by slowly putting in comments in old videos :)
@beatchef Well it's supposed to be his accent from Gabriel Knight 1, but I think he needs to listen back to that. Because it never quite matched. I think the fact that he doesn't look like himself from the first game also didn't help.
@Resulka From a developer's point of view, they missed out on a lot of production value by not casting him in a role where he could use his deep and menacing English voice we all love him for. But I'm sure poor Tim was thrilled to finally not be typecast and relished the role.
@beatchef I know people liked the 2nd one, but Dean Erickson was a total fail for me. I found his character too different from the Gabe I loved in the first one.
@Resulka I don't really mind, cos I loved him as Gabe. My fav one was the 1st because Grace has some great lines. I think the woman doing Grace in this was Elaine in MI3 (correct me if I'm wrong). She's good, but not as good as the original Grace.
@vglp33 I believe you are correct. Nay, the best Grace is still the 1st one, as is the 1st Mosely. They really should have gotten Mark Hamill back. Same with Leah Remini. But I would have loved alot less American Hick from Tim Curry. But then Dean Erickson did also do American Hick, but he did sort make it look like it was on purpose rather then his actual character.
This game is funny in parts but ends kinda weirdly. I actually didn't like the puzzles and what not, though. And some of the stuff. I mean, how the hell were you supposed to get it? I had to look up a walkthrough several times because there were many moments of, Eh?, happening.
@vglp33 For the first Three years of having this game I didn't have the internet. I manged quite well. And I only like... 12 when it came out. So it's doable.
@Resulka I had the internet at 10, but didn't get this game until later. I think part of it boils down to the fact that I'm not good at adventure games. I like them, but I get bored with them because I like to work out things quickly and like a reasonable pace. Ad games can be slow for me at times. I hate not knowing what to do in a game, but don't mind if I have to re-try something if I have the solution to it.
But I was talking about the bits where you have to look things up on the computer.
@vglp33 Oh, but I do know what you mean. I think I have that trouble with Telltale games. I'm not prepared to come up with the most stupid solution to the problem to do it or even just continually walk to one place to get something for the other place, to then go back to the first place with something from the second place to then fix a problem in the first place. Granted they have limited landscapes because they're episodic, but COME ON! It's tedious!
Pretty idiotic that 2 and 3 wasnt the same grapics and feel to it as nr 1. then they would be more awesomer imo. nr 1 is 10000000000000000000 better then 2and3 combined

Emilio Baza - known to most of us as Philip J Fry.
I may be wrong, but I'm almost positive that that's Billy West.

I love GK games, and your comments make them so much more fun.
And Gabriel is still cute, even with ugly 3D this game is using. :)

He looks like Patrick Swayze in Dirty Dancing, but stoned haha
They used Tim Curry but made him put on an accent that hides the fact that it's Tim Curry...
