  • Twinned wih my town of Pau, in Bearn Pyrenées-Atlantiques , south west of France.

But , in comparison Pau is a very tiny town.

Chinese culture is very interesting, I discovered it since I practice qi gong and tai ji quan.

I regret that Pau does not sufficient relationship with Xian like linguistic exchanges: Chinese is taught in two high school in Pau.

  • the last sentence is very true.

    Translation:

To understand Chinese culture, start with Xi'an.

  • You don't have a clue do you? Communism (based upon community) is a natural transition from Confucianism. Democracy will not work in China - it will turn to anarchy. China is already capitalist, as is the USA and Canada. But US is a capitalistic oligarchy, not a democracy. A few politicians rule for their own personal profits. Only in a small city state such as Singapore, HK, or Macau can true democracy survive. You are blinded by foreign political propaganda!

  • agreed!

  • But since China is a capitalist country (and the world's 2nd largest economy) then it is no longer Communist except in name. You may be right about Western-style democracy not working in China (it doesn't even work very well in many Western countries where votes can be bought through lobbyists) but, given time, would you not agree that China can develop its own form of democracy, at least at the local level? I think it can.

  • China is capitalistic economically, but still communistic politically. Individual capitalism (greed) must always be balanced by communism (communal benefit) of nation. China is a nation of policy, evidenced by most leaders being civil engineers; while USA is a country of laws, evidenced by most leaders being lawyers. Which is better? Policy must be balanced by laws, but ultimately, laws must be ruled by policy because individuals can interpret laws out of context to detriment of the people.

  • @Yakantheterek

China needs strong government with an iron fist.

Democracy is not a good idea.

  • @SirithHeruwen Democracy in China needs a lot of time. I'm not saying that CCP has done a horrible job though. I just want to say that China needs to be open a little bit more but I agree with you that CCP is the best choice for China right now.

  • @Yakantheterek Actually i'm totally agree with you. Democracy in China needs time. Make it a hundred years if that what it takes to make China a healthy and accurate democrat society. No need to rush, China has been since the beginning of human civilisations and it likely to stay till the Armageddon :)

  • By the way, my ancestors are from Shanxi too, and WE ARE CHINESE! Don't you DARE speak succession - learn your history! Westerners just want to divide our people, then conquer us!

  • do i count as a westener, even though i am american indian? i don't share same opinion as many american's do on the chinese people. i admire chinese culture enough that i stand out among my people.

"Hozhoo' na sha do' Hozhoo' ne da do'"

  • omg this video made me cry~!! i miss Xi'an~!!!

  • Great! Xi'an is definitely worth going, a gate to China.

  • This video is really good, it briefly reflected an old and modern city, Xi'an is such kind of city that mix the old and modern times together, each will find his destination here.
