At the end, someone from New York offered a friend of mine $500 for a pair of factory seconds of these he had paid $150 for and my friend turned him down. There are no plans to make this precise design again, so if you have a pair, grats.

specs say the steel is 440 SSor somethin. you guys should see COLD STEEL they make THE best knives not tryin to advertise here but if you watch their vids at their channel: CSknives you'll see they do 90 degree flex tests and if you look at one specific 3 vid series called "3 tantos" you'll see the difference between their knives and all else. Plus they have butterfly swords that come in PAIRS for the same price that I saw Everything wing chun have for ONE sword 4 inch shorter.

On a side note, It seems like with butterfly swords the parries and defensive gestures of wing chun become the attacks when wielding the swords, and the linear attacks are more or less missing entirely? Like with the swords, the defensive techniques all become offensive?

@davidreefer Actually, the Wing Chun way of using Butterfly Knives is very very much the same as the empty handed techniques. Thus the knives merely become an extension (and a very deadly one at that!) of the arms. They are used both offensively and defensively. Most Butterfly Knives are of blunt blade in the first few inches of the blade (measuring from the handle), specifically for defensive (and non-lethal) hits/blocks/parries.
