  • absolute music and harmony...

  • I adore this song and have become a huge fan of Hamlet Gonashvili. But I am also wondering what is up with the dude's hair in the video? Not Hamlet's hair - the guy in the scene with the girl.

  • @clemdane it's a hat, isn't it?

  • @fbaraglia Ah, okay, that makes sense. I can't see it very clearly. Do you know the name of the type of hat?

  • @clemdane I'm brazilian, no. I don't know the name of the hat. It looks like the ones wore by english soldiers, or cossaks

  • Georgian music is very similar to folk music of Balkan. Find: "stara kordunaska ojkaca".

  • FOR ALL OF TSINSKARO LOVERS :) Taiwanese troupe & Rustavi Choir music /watch?v=Vmb9CYG1HlI

  • I have tears streaming down my face. Reminds me of the ancient times in human history when music was used for healing.

  • ppl who need translation or are complaining about video quality are not into this at all. just close your eyes and listen, this music is an universal language. and who cares about the video quality! come on!

  • I am from Ukraine but I love Georgian music since I remember myself. It's so beautiful. I would say this is the music of my soul. I love this song. It makes my heart cry even though I don't understand what is about. It takes me to heaven.

  • @jasperingl you feel it this means that you understand :) so dont worry about words, but word are also perfect ::)

  • The song means "Hello Earth". I get it now.

  • @Vampwatch1462 It does not mean Hello Earth actually, it was used by Kate Bush in a song called 'Hello Earth', I think. This song is about a man who passes a river and along its banks sees a woman. Man says something to that woman, she does not like it, gets upset. The story of unrequited love in a way. Genius of it is that it's presented in really simple lyrics (if you could call it that really), but is filled with emotion.

  • @virtual7insanity "дуй от сюда"-И как ты себе это представляешь?

  • @virtual7insanity А почему ты не в Грузии живешь?

  • Мне вот эта особенно нравится, не видео а музыка и исполнение!

  • By the way is there any chance of finding the sheet music to this? I have scoured the internet to no avail - I guess it's just handed down from father to son...

  • Quite exquisite - this is ensemble singing of the very highest quality - with a spiritual dimension that crosses all cultural barriers. Thank you for posting this rare gem.

  • The Ansambl Gordela's Zinskaro is infinitely better.

  • there are no words only tears in my eyes !

  • Thanks for this beautiful song! I am from austria and i heard this song at first at the film "Nosferatu" and i like it since i was a little kid!

  • This is... so beatiful.

Thank you for uploading this jewel =)

  • genialuri....meti sityva ar vici

  • Надо же! Видела Носферату много лет назад, и тогда показалось, что это был григорианский хорал, хотя почувствовалось в нем что-то знакомое. "Как хоралы похожи на грузинское пение" - подумалось тогда. :)Гениальное пение!

  • Like many other Westerners I first heard this in Nosferatu... then in an episode of Miami Vice! It took me years to figure out what it was...

  • @jonahbegone in Miami Vice? seriously? what episode?

  • @kavtoM Oh, I don't recall. It was one featuring the boss. He was on a case by himself, as I recall. This was in, like, 1985!

  • @jonahbegone What sort of scene did they use it in?

  • @clemdane Miami Vice scene: It was lame. An assassination attempt, as I recall. A man on the run from another man. Does total injustice to the lyrics of the song! In Nosferatu, it was played during an overhead shot of a plague scene in a city square. Rats, people acting wildly. Again, an injustice to the song's gentle lyrics and meaning - but memorable.

  • @BegoneJonah Interesting. The plague scene in Nosferatu is one of my favorite all time movie scenes.

  • I am wiping tears from my eyes as I listen to this.

  • I first heard Georgian music in Nosferatu, and the piece blew me away. I recently watched the film again (after hearing a number of versions of this) and was somewhat surprised to note that the wonderful solos weren't even included; they had just jammed all the choral bits together. Very odd. They should have used this version!

  • absolutely beautiful

  • no one can ever sing like this again.

ase aravis ar umgeria da verc veravin vegar imgerebs. namdvili fenomenia

  • sheudarabeliaaa!!!

  • benjaros2, no actually it's a Georgian medieval hymn We Venerate Thy Cross performed by Rustavi Choir (it's indicated in the Big Lebowski credits), I simply confused it with Tsintskaro, if I'm not mistaken Tsintskaro and another Georgian national song Sisa Tura are used in Ewan McGregor movie The Serpent's Kiss (1997).

  • This is one of the greatest Georgian folk songs, by the way I think Tsintskaro can be faintly heard in Coen Brothers' hilarious movie The Big Lebowsky, odd coupling if you ask me, but nevertheless...:-)

  • Someone already has, look in the comments.

  • I was passing by the spring.

There I met a beautiful woman with a jug on her shoulder.

I spoke a word to her and she left, offended.

I was passing by the spring.

  • Amazing! Magic! So much mystery, beauty and harmony!

    The song is absolutely fantastic!

Hamlet Gonashvili was indeed absolutely unique!

God Bless Georgia and our culture!

  • I love Georgian music and the music of the Rustavi Choir. I have a couple of cds by the choir. I love this music so much. This music takes me to places where other music can't. I have some Georgian ancestry in my family tree too.

  • am genialur adamianze alaparakic ki zedmetia radgan ar vici rit shevaqo

  • @MrAresha69 Getanxmebit!

  • This song contains a deepest archaic truth. Incredible. It should be the anthem of mankind.

  • The best song ever made!

  • the word Tsintskaro itself is not used in modern georgian language, but in this case it means 'in front of the spring'. Tsin - in front; tskaro - spring.

So ''tsintskaro chamoviare'' means ''I walked in front of the spring''

In modern georgian one will say 'Tskaros tsin chamoviare'.

Also there is a small village in southern georgia with this name.

  • What does Tsintskaro mean? I can usually pick out lyrics without understanding the language but this one is impossible.

    Beautiful in any case.

  • Dzalian gvakilxar Hamlet. Sheni suli dalotsos gmertma.

  • here's my translation(excuse poor quality)

I walked down along a small river,

and there I met a beautiful woman.

When I talked to her, she took offense.

I walked down along a small river.

  • "here's my translation(excuse poor quality)"

    Your translation is actually excellent.

  • ample translation, go on !

  • I have seen on another youtube site that this song is a lament for sailors lost in the Black Sea... are there additional lyrics that describe this?

I'm trying to understand why it's so mournful. Is it a beautiful woman's scorn or a lament to the dead?

  • Its title loosely translates as, `By the Stream.` its difficult to translate ,lyric is difficult.

  • Tsintskaro chamoviare, tsintskaro (...Tsintskaro chamoviare).

Tsin shemkhvda qali lamazi tsin shemkhvda (...koka rom edga ganzeda).

Sitkva vut'khar da itskina, sitkva vutkhari (...ganriskhda gadga ganzeda).

    Tsintskaro chamoviare, tsintskaro (...tsintskaro chamoviare).

That's not mine, hope, they are ok... :)

  • Thx!

  • "That's not mine, hope, they are ok... :)"

That's exactly how my Georgian friends taught me 5 years ago (as I pointed even on the IMDB board for this film, and about the tragic death of the singer & conductor Hamlet), but my friends could never quite hear choir parts for the 2nd & 3rd verses, so thanks a lot for that!

  • დიდი მადლობა უდიდესი სიამოვნების მონიჭებისთვის!

  • esto podría ser la mejor música del planeta. y en nosferatu está bien usada, queda muy bien ahí.

  • I first heard this on Kate Bush's song, Hello Earth. I eventually tracked down the whole thing. Fantastic, atmospheric, cinematic. Have not seen Nosferatu, but I could imagine it being used in motion pictures. Just great.

  • same here, actually probably most people here did. it's incredible. but this isnt the same version as on hello earth

  • Comment removed

  • Beautifl deep music!

  • What a divine music, what a divine voice !

  • Can anyone provide lyrics? I heard this in NOSFERATU and it's been embedded in my head.

  • This song. Hamlet. Both. An honor to the human race. Perfection.
