If I could make a humble suggestion,it seems your peddling is a bit to easy(to low of a gear) I'v allways wanted to make a similiar craft but wanted to use a derailer and a medium weight flywheel,also why not add outriggers for stability and storage? best of luck!!
@davetileguy Yeah but you have to remember that a fast cadence is more efficient adn that Greg is pedalling this thing for months on end so it is impracticle to push a big gear.
@shorerydr10 Not necessarily a big gear,a choice of gears to dial in wave conditions,passengers,weekend practice empty or a fully loaded trip,prop planes have variable pitch props,I don't know about the flywheel it would just be an interesting experiment.
Nope. Things doesn't work like that in the real world. Think waves bigger than the width of the boat, couple it with high winds, and all of a sudden you'll realise it's not such a good idea. Secondly, it can pretty quickly feel rather violent sitting in a trimaran or a catamaran if the waves are just the right size, jerking the boat violently to keep "level" with the waves coming from the beam or close to the beam.
When you're done with it may I use it on a solo mission to the Seychelles Islands please? Seem's the cheapest way to travel haha. Good luck to you on your way to Hawaii. My fear in that boat would be the approach to land because of the waves and currents.
Imagine this: a human powered iceboat.

@davetileguy
Outriggers would make a self-rigthing boat stay inverted.
NBM397 4 months ago
@NBM397 well it should stay upright then.

I belive,from some distance it's really a "submarine kiosk" look on calm waters.Besides color-paint it with some camouflage to scare some pirates.
