Pixel nailed the crap out of this game. The Wii and 3DS version may have been a tad inferior to the original Cave Story, however the porting was well done.

Although beyond reasoning, the original version for PC will still always be the best.

Finally defeated Ballos today on the hardest difficulty. Felt so fucking good. Now I've decided to make my own Flash game with the same style graphics as Cave Story using Stencyl. Using some CS sprite redraws and such. Hoping I can write a decent melody on FamiTracker, but at this point I'm not hoping for much... Might just work out the graphics for right now and then go from there!

After beating the undead core, enter the shack with the save point instead of jumping off the island. There will be a hole inside, which leads into Sacred Grounds.

@botsman5 You have to have saved curly brace and gotten her memory back. If you get the iron bond from her, the shack will be open. There is a hole to the sacred grounds there.

@botsman5 You probably have found out already, but just in case, you do have to enter the Pre-fab building during your escape from the island, and fall down into the hole. The catch is you 'have' to have the Booster v2.0, and as far as I know, have saved Curly Brace (not sure about that last part).

*1. Do not trade weapons with Curly after beating her.

*2. Do not trade the Polar Star for the Snake in the Labyrinth Shop.

3. Ignore Booster after Monster X. There's a red mark where you should jump to get to the other side.

4. Before drowning after the Core, get the Tow Rope. It's in the water, under where the Core is when you enter.

5. Attach Curly to you after drowning.

6. Make a careful jump in the Waterway to the Waterway Cabin.

7. Rest in the bed.

10. Drain the water from Curly.

11. Examine Curly two more times, then answer No.

*13. Use the Booster 2.0 to return to the First Cave and talk to the Hermit Gunsmith. He'll turn the Polar Star into the Spur.

*14. On the Outer Wall, look for a sign that has a clock on it. Go as far left as you can and enter a secret room. If you followed the required steps, you'll get the (Something) Counter. This is optional, but it times Hell for you.

15. In the Plantation, if you followed the steps, Curly will be in a bed with amnesia. Talk to her, then Cthulu.

19. Examine the Mushroom Badge in your Inventory to learn you were ripped off.

20. Talk to and defeat Ma Pignon.

21. Feed Ma Pignon to Curly.

25. After destroying the Undead Core, enter the Prefab House. The entrance to the Sacred Grounds/Hell is there.

I seriously cannot do this level, I get so far and die. I just can't, the beginning where the blocks fall on you takes 75% of my damage all the time, and if I'm lucky, I get 50% of it knocked off. It's just impossible for me, and after doing that there's 2 bosses? The big falling thing, and Ballos? Come on, that's impossible. I don't care if it's for challenge, that's just cruel.

..Until I got to the BS Sanctuary. By the way, kids, that stands for BULL SHIT Sanctuary :D Because that's what I shouted after dying like 30 times.

Those damn Butes after the first area (you have to be AWESOME with the Booster 2.0 not to take a hit there...) really fuck me up. If I get less than 20 HP I let them kill me because I know I'm about to die.

The music is the real thing that kept me going during that Hell.

And the fight/ending was well worth everything.

@ShadowbaneOverload Fun fact: After the long corridor with the Butes and falling debris, it's possible to restore your health to maximum. Remember those two hearts in the pit? Well, if you keep grabbing those and exiting and re-entering the room, they keep respawning, so you can get full health. Makes it a hell of a lot easier, especially if you wasted your Life Jar during the Undead Core fight!

This along with "On to Grasstown" and "Eyes of Flame" are without the shadow of a doubt the greatest musical pieces in all of Cave Story.

It starts off sort of slow as you make your way down to Hell, while slowly learning of the foreboding chronicle that is Ballos. At the end of the long room you find Curly and as you enter the door to the huge decomposing hallway, BAM 0:45 kicks in and all hell breaks loose.

Greatest musical moodsetter in the history of ever, seriously.

@thegoldenmasterball What would they do? There's no forseeable way to continue from any of the three endings. The coward ending has the world end, the normal ending destroys the demon crown but kills everyone on the island but Sue, Quote, and Kazuma. And the good ending makes everything good forever.

Maybe it could be a continuation from the good ending. Not everything's good, the crown and Ballos are just gone. The surface could try to attack the island again in hopes of capturing it for themselves. Fighting a bunch of robots would be fun.
