You'll burn the glowplugs if you start diesel motor like that. Wait for the yellow glowplug light to go off and then star you engine. ;) Nice VW!

The engine was already warm, when I started it. Also in modern diesels the pre-heating already starts before you even put the key into the slot. It usually doesn't take more than a second, before you can start -- even in Winter.
