seems like common sense if you think about it....LoL!!! Great video and this guy sounds like he real dedicated to what he does, and he is thinking about every little nuance in music and beats in general....Great video, I just learned a little about music that I did not know
So wait, I think I might have gotten this, depending on what number is underneath the note, that is how many beats it is played for? (The duration that note is played for?) So if I saw the number 4 underneath a quarter note, I would play that quarter note for 4 beats?
i find people should practice at an extremely low tempo and only inch up 5 or whatever beats per minute with eery piece of music and then once they've gotten every single solitaire note or chord 100% clean , accurate and in time with no mistakes...
@pianoorganman watch it again, using the example, if u want to perform at 120, u start out slow and work your way up 40 50 60 70 80 90 110 120 BUT he's saying go BEYOND your target performance speed, so keep going 120 125 130 135 140 , at have it perfect at 140, then obviously practice at the right speed before the gig - 120, so that when u play at the performance tempo 120 it's comparatively easy coz you've mastered 140
I really can't agree with what you say about guitar drills at 3'00''
if you can't play at 110 and try going up to 140 and then back down to 120 you'll still not be able to play at 120 or 110 as a fact....so go to 100 and then 110.. ecc.
in other words don't try playing at a beat thats to fast for your phrasing to be perfect.
Dude you are awesome and help me out sooo munch man. i am in a band too, lead singer, and i had the same problem to. but thanks too you, i don't. Thanks Man
You are a great person, I'm learning music and I had a teacher but I can't afford it so I'm learning by library, internet and by watching dvd's and I could use all the help I can get. Thanks 5 stars and subscibed ! Btw can you answer this, if I play in the key of A, does that mean I'm using A scales and chords, like A major, pentatonic minor in order to achieve the song to sound similar all way around?
i have a question with a beat is a whole note played 4 times and then a half note played twice and then quarter played once and a 8th note played 1/2 (so slower) and a sixteenth note played slower then the 8th????
beats are easy to understand got it ever so slimly mastered though. highest beat i went for was 172 in a song no feat though. but it's the notes i have to understand
Say you have a 4/4 time. And you have ( quarter note, quarter note, then 4 sixteenth notes, then a last quarter note. Do you have to make all 7 strikes, or do the 4 sixteenth notes just make one held sound?

1.I thought u play it slower first to master you fingering and
2.Im not sure if i missed it but in Counting you want to always count like
1&2&3&4& , helps with tempo too.
