Did anybody notice that there is no steam coming out of Stalin's mouth as he speaks? There is snow all over the Red Square and it was pretty cold. Have to make it short. My mom before she died told me the story behind it. She worked with the cameraman who was called to shoot Stalin speak. They screwed up the sound part and were ready to be arrested and to GULAG or be executed. But Stalin was in the good mood and let them reshoot the same night INSIDE the Kremlin. The famine and the turmoil it caused was the fault of a failed harvest, and rich farmers hogging and destroying grain, knowing that this would cause a famine. In a reaction to this, the Soviet government sent in soldiers and NKVD operatives to punish the people responsible and confiscate grain so it could be distributed fairly. Because of the NKVD's poor leadership, many died unnecessarily.

I meant that with Stalin/Mao, anyone risked death easily, in Hitler's Germany if you weren't one of the "undesirables" and you didn't step out of line, life was quite easy for you.
Rough death counts:
Mao: ~80 million
Stalin: ~50 million.
Hitler: ~6 million.
I am unsure about Hitler though, camp documents list shootings into the hundreds of thousands, add all the camps together and you get some figure around there and you also got Einsatzgrupen.

@otester your numbers do not resist any serious analysis.
You also can count how many thousands were killed by the American Revolution or how many more were killed in the name of the "Cold War" by the west.
The big difference is that many of those conflicts were civil wars and the Nazi crimes were inflicted in other peoples outside Germany plus you are short in numbers. Not only Jews were killed by the beast, 22 million Soviets and many hundred of thousand French, British, etc, die too.
