of course! but they were planted (thus the "plantation counties") in ireland by mutually disliked british, so they have a bunch in common. and yes, there are scotch-irish playing celtic (or celtic-gaelic) music, both in the u.k and in the u.s. my s-i roots go back to the 1700s, at both pa. and n.c. some of my s-i musician forebears here also sidled up to the germans (in pa.) and mixed the schottisch with the celto-american music form and played it all over the upper midwest.... did i answer ?
