i know how to desighe a lift... at the 2 ends, put 1 gear and a chain going around. than, under the roller coaster cart, put some sort of...... thing that has teeth that would fit into the chain.

I've never used the Mindstorm Lego but I think if you finish your roller coaster(make it loop) you could use the Mindstorm and programming to lift it up parts that need to be lifted up.
