  • Wow, this isn't 240p, this is 2.4p...

  • A great lesson in owning up ASAP you think you are not where you should be.

  • Could have been messy if the pilot had gone on her call. Wise decision indeed

  • And that's why women should stay in the kitchen

  • If i had a penny for every pixel in that video, i'd have one penny...

  • @simpledudeable hey man, visibility was low that day...

  • This woman should have been pulled from duty as soon as she lost it. There's no room for emotional fervor at times like this.

  • .......this is what happens when we HAVE to be all pc and have quota systems where women HAVE to be hired. Women can't work or take orders from other women......it shows in their sniping at each other. The controller is a typical female control freak....I pity the dude that has to come home to that!

  • most foolish behaviour of a controller i have ever seen !! the lost plane reported being on the active runway ..still she cleared a plane for take off .. ubelievable! i hope lessons were learned here.

  • Listen to the women...unbelievable-the pilot says she is looking out the window and seeing blah blah blah. It makes a difference, you know, whether you are looking out windows to your left, to your right or straight ahead. I mean I thought female car drivers were bad enough-now they're 'piloting' planes. Oh my God.

  • Is it sad that I find it funny when the controller completely loses her shit?

  • the airfield has been changed, regardless there is no way that runway 23R could be the same as runway 23L, if there was only one runway heading 230 degrees it would be called runway 23. if you aren't a pilot you should be careful what you are posting. it doesn't make a lot of sense to act like you know what you are talking about when you clearly have no flight training, ironically you are very confused, as you talk about how confused these pilots and controller were.

  • typical women minds

they should be locked in the house cleaning and cooking only

  • @solympic haha, what about food shopping?

  • In response to the debate over TF Green's parallel runways:

The airport did have parallels at the time of the accident. 23L and 23R. Later on 23L was closed and became taxiway victor. So you're all right. Or wrong.

  • The United crew originally (and mistakenly) told the Tower they were on runway 23R. Thus the tower correctly responded that 23R was not an active runway. United didnt realize they were on 23L an ACTIVE runway ....

However the Tower should have immediately stopped ALL traffic once United advised that "somebody just took off"

  • at 4:33, the united crew told tower they were on 23L, although their previous and following transmissions state 23R... weird.

  • I've read about this event for years. So much so that I had to download the airport diagram to sort it out. The tower responds that "23R is not an active runway", which is where the Tower completely blew it. 23R is the same runway as 23L, because it's only one runway, not parallel runways. What they were on was 16, at the intersection. Like a sitting duck.

Her remarks, and attitude, were VERY unprofessional.

  • Umm...23R and 23L are most definitely different, parallel runways. If you have downloaded the airport diagram that should be quite obvious.

  • I understand the concept of parallel runways, but in that case there would have to be two of them, in order to be parallel, correct? Based on the airport diagram for T.F. Green airport I just downloaded, there's only one runway 23/5, and one 16/34.

What she fails to understand is when he told them they were on 16, that they were on 16, staring at Kilo, which was (then) on the east side of 23/5.

What a mess! Bravo to the US Air Pilots. Wonder if one of them was Sully?

  • I agree with u the control tower lady was very unprofessional her anger was just as high as the cruising altitude of many jets these days :) may be higher :P

  • @damank9 More like as high as the space shuttle

  • Hey guys ..download and read the NTSB report and you will clearly see that there are two parallel runways ...even though it just shows one wide strip in the downloaded diagram from the airfield site ....

  • This copntroller was incompetent and the fact that she was going to launch USAir without a positive identification of United's location. That controller was initally blaitently incompetent. The United crew made a very acceptable mistake and handled the situation comp[letely acceptably as far as I am concerned. That US crew sounded horrifyed. I would be too quite frankly. I cannot imagine the days at airports like ORD when you would have fog like this in the 70's and such.

  • 03:33 TWR: "United 1448 you shouldn't be anywhere near Kilo, hold your position please, just stop."

they did not answer and just continue rolling shortly after, not acceptable at all.

the tower's mistake was to not make sure United actually stopped after getting no confirmation at all...

  • Wow, she doesn't listen, I heard this once and understood that United 1448 overshot thier taxiway and were on the active...... Get them clear and hold all traffic on that runway, don't lose your cool and disaster averted.

  • Five star for the US Air pilots who refused the take off clearance when the situation looked dodgy.

  • See what happens when you get impatient as an ATC, this bitch has no place being in the control tower with lives in her hand. Listen to the tone and disregard she has, she is just on a power trip. This was a fucking embarrassment to professional women and the NTSB. I hope she was fired after this, she has no nerves.

  • @7:24 "United has no idea where they are."

Funny, from what I heard the United crew knew exactly where they were, the controller on the other hand, was clueless.

  • @AgentMulder3667 Incorrect. UA1448 took a wrong turn down bravo, then provided incorrect positioning to the tower. Both were clueless, listen to how they reference 23R.

  • @AgentMulder3667 Incorrect. UA1448 took a wrong turn down bravo, then provided incorrect positioning to the tower. Both were clueless, listen to how the pilot mixed up 23R and 23L whilst making the situation way more stressful.

  • What a dumb ass controller

  • This is scary! Almost like a scary 3 Stooges show!

  • this isnt the Tower's mistake, the UA pilot overshot the runway, thats what triggered. it

    granted her mouth didnt help

  • wow she shouldn't have a job like that if she can't handle stress

  • hah. someone left her brain at home

  • oh my god...losing cool is the way to ..you know what is next...unbelievable

  • Unprofessional controller. She didn't keep her cool.

  • Very dumb controller... She's not even listening to what they're saying.. Totally dismissing that they clearly state where they are.. 4:57 very clever pilot.. he say's they're not going anywhere before things get cleared..

  • is rhode island.. rhodes in greece?

  • No. Rhode Island is the smallest state in the USA. It was one of the original 13 colonies, and is in New England, nestled between Massachusetts and Connecticut.

Little known fact: The Providence airport (KPVD) is actually not in Providence at all. It is in Warwick, RI, about 10 miles south of Providence.

  • what a shit quality at the end

  • This lady's attitude is an accident waiting to happen.

  • the tower was losing it

  • Thank you for uploading!
