I get what people are saying about why they don't think Tim was any good as a host; but on the same level I think he's really good as one because he can just joke around with people so easily - they don't seem to begin to feel uncomfortable when being joked about in the way some hosts can make it feel for them, and everyone on the show seems to just be getting along and having fun.

I find that Tim's jokes are too long, hard to understand & conveluded. Not a good one-liner guy, which is what a permanent host has to rock. He's okay, though. Not permanent host material, that's for sure.

@wtvrize I disagree; the position of the host is flexible enough to accomodate anecdotes, long jokes, or short ones. The difficulty is in the skillful retelling of the aforementioned types of host-material; indeed, even regular conversation can be used for hosting, as is the case with Phil Amstell. Anyways, I don't find Tim Minchin to be a particularly good host because he seems completely dead behind the desk-that's why I reckon he wasn't any good, not because of the length of his jokes.
