  • I think that day was not the better day for guthrie govan...

  • Oh my god. This is such sexy music.

  • I was there that night. Marco KILLED!!! Great band!

  • Is Marco endorsing Yamaha now..? I thought he played DW

  • the energy is amazing. my favourite version.

  • Wooow.. look how much fun these guys have.

    Awesome :D

  • So Minnemann and Govan are together in a band called "The Aristocrats"?

  • @Mustainetor yaman

  • Excellent drums, guitar bass and guitar is... great.

  • This show is gonna be gooood!

  • So, Marco is note in Dream Theater. Worst for the band...

  • @KingTabor Actually I think it's the best, both for DT and Marco. He's every bit as good a player as Mike Mangini but I think he probably doesn't enjoy prog metal as much as Mike and thus probably wouldn't get as much of a kick out of it as Mike seems to do.

  • Marco is the Paul Gilberto of drums

  • 4:54 "MARIAAA" , west side story .. guthrie rules

  • @oliviercastellat followed by "Moon River" :)

  • 2:40 that's Zelda's Lullaby right there xD

  • fuck minnemann is insane

  • NICE DYNAMICS, good to see the interaction the way it should be....NO drama...

  • Incredible.

  • Fun Fact: The Aristocrats had only one rehearsal to ever play the set together... and that was right before their performance.

If that doesn't scream "beastly"... I don't know what does.

  • I guess that's settled it! We don't need any new bands now. We've found what we've been looking for all these centuries!.

  • Wow

  • @apocalist420 I mean I can draw that opinion by listening to him now, but yeah, I get what you're saying.

  • Why is this the quietest vid on YT?

  • I honestly think the Erotic Cakes band was a better fit for Guthrie. Marco is just so damn busy, which doesn't really fit well with Guthrie in my opinion.

  • @KingZerxst I disagree very strongly. Marco makes this music come alive rather than it being Guthrie Govan playing over somekind of static backing track-like stuff. I think they really have a great chemistry going, We'll see!

  • @dennoow It's all good. I could be wrong about Marco, but I really appreciated the stuff the Erotic Cakes band did behind Guthrie. I know his brother is just an incredible bassist and did some really creative stuff, and the drummer who's name escaped me had great feel and groove.

  • @KingZerxst Yeah the erotic cakes band contains really awesome musicians as well! The drummer is Pete Riley I think, really good. But I think the fact that Minnemann and Beller are a little more busy spices things up a little bit. We'll see! I can't wait though :)

  • @dennoow clearly you havent heard pete riley :) the time signature in erotic cakes is a very good example

  • @mikkomokkimikki don't patronise me, I have heard him and I think he's great. I just think Minneman makes the music come alive a bit more. Riley is great in the fellowship, I just think he's too calm opposed to minneman.

  • well... sounds prog enough for me! Really awsome

  • Any european tour dates???

  • Mann what's the furthest south they're going to go on the eastern U.S.? I'd travel 100 miles to go see this act!

  • @Dnozzle2794 raliegh NC i believe

  • ....this band is fucking amazing....

  • 2:26 - 2:33 ............MOOOOVEEEE! ;-P

  • Guitar shold be 15 % louder ....

  • god marco gets around to play with the coolest guys

  • shit's gonna be BIG

  • The official name of this band is The Aristocrats (from the comedy movie). This band is going to be intense but there'll also be a lot of musical humor and satire a la Zappa. This band is going to have a little bit of everything stylistically but a cohesive sound of its very own. It's not prog, it's not fusion, it's not jazz... It'll mostly be rock with everything else thrown in and a lot of improvisation and spontaneous musical interplay between these three virtuoso musicians.

  • @alexkhan2000 when can we hear an album? maybe?

  • @alexkhan2000 It actually is everything you said it's not, the least of which is rock. They're more jazz fusion than anything.

  • @PoeticJustice05 It's not jazz fusion man. It's mostly rock with everything they could think of thrown over it.

  • @panamanian911 Dude, I know jazz fusion when I hear it. I can smell wankage a thousand miles away. That tone, the shredding, the absurd technicality of everything, it's jazz fusion. They are so far from rock, it's like a different time zone man. Rock is in your face, but in a different way, these guys are in your face, but it's like, "Ooh, look at me, I can wank my ass off! Applaud my technicality!" This is NOT Rock, just call it what it is, nothing wrong with that.

  • @PoeticJustice05 its called music not wanking

  • Light Mage jn guitar, Black Wizard on bass and Knocking David Blaine are casting spell

  • This trio is working on an album for fall release and regional tours starting in June. Stay tuned!

  • @alexkhan2000 no fukin way...r u serious dude? where u hear that?

  • @francisco444 I'd assume he heard it from Guthrie himself given that he's responsible for most of the touring Guthrie's been doing around the world :) That's Ed Yoon from Suhr Guitars!

  • @thelordofthestrings Oh nice dude, thx for answering. I'm excited for it but I do hope is more upbeat because this set was kind of slow and more relax. Great players tho.

  • @thelordofthestrings and @francisco444

Yes, I'm Ed Yoon at Suhr Guitars and work closely with Guthrie and also with Marco and Bryan on this project. They start recording the album in Chicago in a few weeks. The tunes will be intense but still melodic and very listenable. Dates in LA (including two shows at the Baked Potato) and SF in late-June are pretty much set.

  • @alexkhan2000 any possibility of Canadian dates?

  • @skleung

Not confirmed but it seems like Oct 4 in Montreal and Oct 6 and 7 in Toronto. We're working on the details now.

  • @alexkhan2000 Ah ic...boo i was hoping for Edmonton! :P haha

  • by the way, Guthrie plays a theme at the end of this version which I know from somewhere, but I can't remember the name! Anyone? It's at 4:54 or something untill 5:07.

  • @dennoow

Its Moon River by Heny Mancini

  • @dennoow Although similar, it's not Moon River. It's the theme from West Side Story's "Maria".

  • jaws droppin'.....:O

  • I think that Guthrie feels very happy with this band!

  • Ah so this is what happens when Guthrie Govan is pushed to his limits: Mind boggling playing!!! I didn't know the other 2 (only heard of them), but I instantly became a fan of both the drummer and the bassplayer! That Minnemann is incredible!! Guthrie, as always, is amazing, but here it's not like it's Guthrie ripping on backing tracks, this is actual music!! Amazing effort by all of them! Thanks Marko and Brian for making this song even more awesome!

  • This was just too intense, almost had a heart attack

  • Great idea to have a band where even Guthrie is pushed. This would be amazing to withness...

  • seriously from 2:15 on wards my mind was blown....completely.

  • oh my fuckin god.....

  • Holy mother of god... if this album happens... holy mother of god....

  • My gf ran in thinking I was having a heart attack because I was saying "OH MY GOD" so many times!! Haha!! :p!! This was truely exceptional!!

  • The look on Marco's face at 3:05 is just magical - That run is genius !!

These 3 are supposed to be putting an album together n 2011 - How great will that be !!!

  • Oh my god!

Amazing. Three of the best musicians around... just.. omg
