@nalemngu1 The movie is entitled "San Francisco 1936" with Clark Gable and Jeanette MacDonald. They also sing the Battle Hymn of The Republic at the end.
This movie is remarkable and stands the test of time, it has a real heart to itl. I love Spencer Tracys quiet portrayal as the Priest. He was a such a wonderful actor. Jeanette MacDonlad had a on screen chemistry that helped make this picture, one for the ages.
I believe that this is a hymn, that regarldess of circumstances or who is singing, will move even the most diehard aka, my dad. When this is played in the film 'Titanic' by ship's quartet, calmly and sweetly while chaos riegns round them, and they know they will not surive, so do their best to calm the others. Was so moving, I cried. It is the song that all sing in 1 way or another, when they know they are closer to death and from what I have seen and heard, works on even the toughest,
Awesome...this scene always makes me cry, I watched it w/ my late mother some 10 years ago & we both cried...so spiritually moving & emotionally drenching...Gable, MacDonald & Spencer stand up to a lofty Tall Order!!
To think that they really used to make movies like this! What happened to Hollywood? Where did they go wrong? What evil devils took over the movie industry and are still holding it today?
Gal:6:14: But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.
This was my mother's favourite hymn, and it was sung with this arrangement at her funeral in 2000. I can never listen to it without crying. Jeanette MacDonald sings it so beautifully here. She was a megastar. Thanks for sharing it Jim.
Jeanette MacDonald is one of the best soprano singers ever to grace motion picture history. I haven't seen such immense talent since. I would argue that she IS the best soprano singer. Her voice is an angel's. Thanks for posting this, I have long looked for it, and God bless to all! :D
'Nearer Thy God to Thee" is my favorite hymn. Jeanette Macdonald and Company sing this hymn so beautifully. This scene is one of my all time favorite film moments. ThanK You for sharing with Us. Lorraine
Titanic had this as her final hymn when she sank on April 14th, 1912.

This song makes cry. It reminds me of the passing of my Uncle who died at the age of 90 back in 2004.

Amen, Bro Tim,
Col 2:13-14
And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
