your teaching and lessons are always great and helpful, is it possible for you to give atleast 50 words of each of vowel sounds? if it is..it would be a great help to me and others as well. thank you for your great lessons and help.
Yes, several times. There are regional differences but they are mild in comparison to the magnitude of accent variations in other countries. At the most there are three to four distinctive accents in the whole country. This is pretty homogeneous when compared to English speaking EU nations such as the UK and Ireland which have literally hundreds of accents between them.
I am from Serbia (Its next to Croatia),and I know to speak english from my birth. When I have english class, all of my friends don't know how to pronounce some words, and they find it very difficult.I have 20 A+ in english class, and I am 14 :)
Now during world contrast practice (around time 2:40)
the /a/ sound appears in hot,cop etc. The sound /a/ is same as /a/ in father.
But the sound /a/ is nowhere present in lock, song, odd as video appears to suggest. The sound of lock, song, odd in video appears to be closer to /o/ sound not to sound /a/.
Also, practice sentences do not make clear where the sound /a/ appears in the practice sentences.. related letter(s) should be highlighted.
Bravo. C'est clair. C'est bien fait. C'est agréable. C'est instructif.
I wish I had such tool 35 years ago at school.

There is no one "British accent"!

@DistantCousin
Good point... but to the untrained ear there is... and to many Americans - there is no difference between "English" and "Austrailian" accents.

Okay I'm watching this cause as a foreigner it's easier to do an American accent..than a British one.At least for me ..

Why would anyone want to speak with an American accent? It's dull, homogeneous and lacks any distinct identity.

@MrTipperX ...have you been to america?
krakatoa47 1 month ago
@MrTipperX Because some of us have moved to the United States. Sometimes is not that we want but we need to.

Americans do pronounce lock, song, and odd with that /a/ sound

After watching this video I don't know when to pronounce "a" as /ae/ as in previous lesson and when as /a/ as in this movie.
Can anyone explain me the rule?
