bringing your thumb around the neck also helps u vibrato on a guitar. is there any way to vibrato on a cello by bending to and fro the string (like guitar) or is it just rolling? i'm in the never-ending quest for the bass vibrato and wanna know if it is ANYTHING like guitar vibrato
There a lot of kinde of vibratos, for difrent kind of music tipe :) ofcourse :) you teach good, you are saing the truth :)
I like very much your videos! except one :) the Duport Etüde :) but your Bach 6th suite is very vell played! Thank you! and thank u for the kind words. :)
That is very much the violin/viola way of executing vibrato. I'm a cello beginner and I couldn't do the cello vibrato but this one that you demonstrated instead. I don't think this vibrato alone is sufficient to become a competent cellist. What do you think?
I was just talking in the context of vibrato, since this video is about vibrato.
To be a good cellist, or any musician, where do you start? Left and right hand techniques, tone varieties, interpretations, phrasing, knowledge of the periods and composers, command of the stage, confidence, communication with conductor, other musicians and audience...
Learn how to read music in any clef is a good start. There can be a bunch of things to do before you even get to touch the cello. Also when you do get to the cello you need good posture, correct way to hold the bow and other things like that.

You need a bunch of different things to be a good cellist, it's not all about vibrato. D
