How about now in August? Are the birds still singing that much? Here in Denmark the birds are mostly quiet now, except the house sparrows and even they have reduced their singing.
It's interesting how the sounds change as the season progresses... There's not quite as much activity as there was in spring time, and different species are active now - especially in the morning and evening, so the array of sounds is a bit different. Since this is a much warmer climate, our birds are active pretty much all year long, although late fall and winter (only about 3 months long here in the desert!) are probably the least active times of year. :-)
We have a huge variety here... Probably the noisiest birds right now are Mockingbirds, Scrub Jays, Robins, Nuttal's Woodpeckers, House Wrens, California Acorn Woodpeckers, Hooded Orioles, the ever-present hummingbirds which fight ALL the time, and of course the occasional Raven and Dove. There are many others which add to the chorus, but aren't really signing much this late in the season. I'll keep an ear out and see if I can hear anything new... :-)
@jcmegabyte Nice description :D What about the very abundant and common House Finch, or the House Sparrow? Have they reduced their singing in this season?
They are definitely much quieter now, at least as far as singing goes. The loud and persistent vocalizing mostly ends as soon as they are all paired-up in spring. Once they are paired and nesting, most of the sounds are the regular "tweets" of communication between the pair as they forage and communicate. I hear the House Sparrows "yelling" at each other every now and then as well but that's about it for them. =)
Mornings are always the noisiest time of day for the birds here, but overall bird sounds are less at this time of year than they were earlier in the year. It varies a bit but it will be that way for most of the year. Since we have resident birds all year, and the weather is usually warm (compared to more northern latitudes) even in winter, there will still be bird sounds even in November through January. Most of the sounds are communication/territorial rather than "singing".
That really depends on which species... Right now, I am hearing Bells Vireos singing their heads off... They're normally pretty vocal anyway, but this sounds a lot like mating season-type singing.
Spring starts very early here, perhaps mid February in most years. House finches really start their serious singing in late March/early April, but the overall levels of birdsong start coming as soon as the temperatures do.
I'm definitely planning more nature sights and sounds - and some night vids with emphasis on the crickets and other night sounds is on the list. Hopefully I'll be able to get those projects under way soon! Thanks for visiting and commenting :-)
@jcmegabyte Great! I have been to Spain this summer and recorded lots of birds and crickets that I will upload soon. The part of Spain I was visiting has a climate similar to that of coastal and central California. Would be interesting to see and mostly hear the similarities!
When the time for that is right, God opens human eyes, so that they can see that the marvels of the creation speak of God and glorify him wherever they are.
Around here, the birds are always most vocal in the morning, from Dawn to around 10am. These sounds were recorded about 8am-9am. The most vocal birds in the soundtrack are the House Sparrows. Starlings, Allen's Hummingbirds, Black-Headed Grossbeaks, House Finches, and Mourning Doves can also be heard. :-)
More so in the warmer months, but even on the coldest winter days there are usually some birds vocalizing in the morning. Their vocalizations are different in non-breeding seasons, being more typical chirping sounds and squabbling noises than the mating call songs of Spring and Summer. Many of our birds are also seasonal, so the species roster changes throughout the year, although a few permanent resident species always present.
When they are in the bird bath. Showers have been tried, but they prefer baths. Either way, with a nice acoustically sensitive area, they can sing just as well if the water is hot enough to clear their throats.
I listened to this in the morning and as soon as I put this in the background I felt that its coming from outside of my house .. the sound quality is nice it felt real :-)
No Magpies around here, unfortunately, buy you did see Scrub Jays ( 0:15 , 1:50 ), House Finches ( 2:02 , 3:04 ), Red-Shafted Flicker ( 2:43 , 2:59 ), California Acorn Woodpecker ( 3:13 ), Mourning Dove ( 3:44 ) and a small hawk (not sure which species) at 3:35 . The hawk, incidentally, was hunting the Flicker, and chased him several times but never did catch him. I guess he'll have to get a cheeseburger at Mcdonalds if he wants lunch! :-)
it was the second bird featured ... on the top of a tree... wow ..you did have a time of it ! ACE ! :) Must be great the things you manage to catch out in the "field" even the ones the camera misses ..wow xxx
Thanks for watching! I haven't been able to ID those flowers yet... They are some sort of bulb, possibly a Purple Iris or related species and are definitely not native to that area.
For more than 3 months I have been wandering here in youtube in search of some good material.... well seems that now I've found it.
Thanks to whoever uploaded this.

@jcmegabyte Do they usually continue with that the rest of the year, until winter? Is the morning chorus is also fairly quiet now?
