Just look at my fingers and ignore the bottom string (since I'm using a seven-string and Opeth uses six-strings). The camera is on my hands the whole time. Shouldn't be too tough to figure out. Also keep in mind that Mikael and Peter play very different things through much of this song and what I am playing is a mixture of Mikael's parts and of Peter's parts.
@Nyarlathotepiscool well thats what i figured out in the end...the strumming parts are easy i find the intro sliding riff hard...well not gone till the clean part...:/ thanks for the help mate...
i cant hear you at all.... why do so many people covering songs have the song in the background the same volume as them? lower the track by 50% atleast.
It's not the same volume. My guitar is about 2x louder than the original track. Do you think the original recording had the vocals that quiet? Or that Peter's guitar parts were 2-3x louder than Mikael's? I usually take it as a compliment when someone says "I can't hear you" since I take that as a compliment to my guitar tone and playing (although there are a bazillion mistakes in this song, all very easy to hear).
Haha. I don't think this song has a chorus. I think Damnation and Heritage are the only Opeth albums that you could really consider to have songs with choruses. But, yeah, quite a few mistakes in this song. Sweet song, though.
great video, i see a bit what ibanez22something was saying though, but i dont think it was your fault, to me the distortion parts were 100% perfect in timing, and idk the song so i could be wrong, but when you went to the first clean part it got off to my ears but i believe it was due to the footswitch, but also you said you hadnt practiced the song much so maybe it was just that error! or maybe my ears were off!! lol but very good video!! great tone! great cover!
Haha. Yeah, but that's less of a timing problem and more of a "I totally fucked up what I was playing" problem. I totally fucked up that entire first clean part, but just kept going.
What do you mean? None of the mistakes in this are timing-based. Most of them have to do with the fact that I haven't practiced the song much, that I'm changing presets with my feet while sitting down, and that I'm not exactly sure how some parts of this are played (I learned the song by ear and by watching live videos of the band). Nothing that a metronome would help.
I didn't think you did. It's just that I've been using metronomes for over 11 years now and I consider timing to be one of the strongpoints in my playing (regardless of time signature), so I just personally thought the comment was odd. I didn't think you meant to insult me or anything.
can you upload an tutorial please...!!!???

Try playing to a backing track. I can barely hear you, if at all.

That's the best compliment I could have received. My volume is almost 3x as loud as the original.

Awesome tone and playing. If you wanna tighten it up, practice with a metronome :)

Thanks. :) There are more mistakes in this one since I have to change presets with my foot so much, but the volume is definitely louder.
