For me, the movie ran out of gas after Josh Brolin's character died. One mistake I noticed in terms of historical accuracy is the use of the Chevrolet Caprice police car. It's at least circa 1986-1989 yet the date of the mother's death on the headstone was 1980. Oops.

Terrible movie, couple of interesting moments. Read reviews of the novel (on which the movie was based) - which indicate that the novel had no ending either. The Coens totally failed to resolve the structural issues of the novel. If you want to understand why the movie fails as a MOVIE, read McKee's "Story". Movies are not poems. Visual mood does not tell the a story alone.
Also, the Tommy Lee character should have been written out of the film.
i guess good movies arent your thing. stick to main stream.
anton is death and symbolically if you see death you die. proof suggesting this comes from when he kills the guy in the building office while the other guy helplessly asks if he is going to kill him too in which anton replies with "that depends. did you see me?" (genius). also in the end the kids give him the shirt and he gives them a 100 dollars and says "you never saw me" genius!

Who said movies need structure in the first place? Many great movies have done without a linear structure, and became masterpieces.
If youre complaining about the open ending, then thats a different story. You need to keep an open mind these things.

You need to look deeper into the charactors. See the sheer horror of what Anton is doing, and the reaction of a killer when confronted by Anton.
The film was excelent, amazing acting and brilliant but simple story. Although the ending did confuse me, I think it's supposed to be metaphoric.
retardopooplick 4 years ago
It is metaphoric. The point of the book/movie was the only weak part of it...the film itself is a classic piece of movie making.
