  • ive found if you make a nozzle from burmans rock hard putty then knock it out sand it down a bit and JB Weld it back in place it wont come out,

  • please stop before you kill yourself you have no idea what your doing, the nozzel is far to small for black powder, plus you must slow down the burn rate maybe by useing sodum the bakeing type, you might try inlargeing this nozzel to 5/32 inch

  • that sounded like a 12 gauge haha! It may have failed, but this was entertaining nonetheless

  • u need to pack it tighter

  • @roadrunnersrock57 thats what she said

  • @GearzVoNKod3 that what ur mom said to me

  • It didn't explode!

It went so fast that you didn't see it!

  • what ever you were using it was either too flammable: too loose with air gaps or the burnt substance was clogging the exhaust. or if im wrong im sorry for being a smart ass.

  • LOL that is definatley CATO :P

ive been starting making my own rockets at home latley and if there is any advice i can give its to use a KNO3 and sugar mix, if you want it to be even more powerfull add a bit of aluminum oxide to the mix.

if you want to ask any questions about what i have done please PM me, im just as much of an amateur as you at this point but it might be helpfull to share tips

are you located in or outside of the US?

  • How did u make this

  • this is a salute not rocket engine ;P

  • @ScooterfunPL lolol

  • okay first off those are not going to work unless you manage to get a really thick metal pipe with both ends havign a plug welded on seeing as how this probably wont happen you should add some extra potassium nitrate and charcoal to your black powder.make sure its more course than your black powder already is so that it will slow down the burn rate of your powder. you could also try to add some sugar or dextrin to your black powder which will also slow it downhopefully this helps good luck!

  • @pyr0maniakid You don't need steel, or any of the other things you mentioned. The failure is likely caused by a mishap during preparation, too small of a nozzle, not strong enough motor casing (PVC would likely work a bit better), etc..

  • they are not rockets they are fire crackers

  • those don't really look all that much like rockets, more like firecrackers.

  • nice

what size mm is your visco fuse ?

  • Nice bombs

  • first off stop re-using old casings, either roll ur own outta craft paper or buy some PVC pipe. second off you arent compacting the BP nearly enough and i dont think that you will be able to since its commercial. either go make ur own meal powder, its easy as hell n works pretty well; or start using sugar rocket mix, also easy.

  • Stop this, you are going to hurt yourself

Commercial black powder WILL NOT consolidate properly. They will CATO A LOT if not every time. Why? Because of how dense the granules are, damn near theoretical density. Using 2 tons of pressure will not work, and will even CATO a nozzleless motor, which ain't easy to do.

Either make you're own black powder, or use sugar propellant.

    This isn't going to work.

  • Hate to break it to you, but this is not going to work. All you're doing is making firecrackers.

  • nice rocket engine.........

  • Maybe mix a little motor oil in with the BP? Get stronger casings and some electronice igniters, if it explodes you'll be farther away

  • my advice would be stop the small scale and start the big scale

take 1 in pvc get a endcap for it. make a nozzle outta concrete put ur fuel in and then cap the other end while have it cored light it and it will hold

  • this is bomb,not rocket motor.:D

  • make your own engines

  • theres no point on telling them rktman1965 the dumb kids just look at some of the suggestions they have not to mention this video retarded they might as well just make m-80's

  • @lionsforlyons nope his thrust nozzle is likely to small or the fuel grain has way more oxidizer than needed also never ignite model rocket engines with fuse it has a tendency to block the thrust nozzle use an electric igniter they're cheap and reliable

  • dont use paper castings use co2 cartrages and plug the end with kitty litter then hot clue it, it will be your pop off valve too, and dont pound on black powder it will go bang, i tryed it with 100 grain pellets first with 50 then 100 grain pellets two was ok but blew the back out of the engine if it was pluged better it would have worked, and dont stand behind it if the plug comes out it could kill. plus with black powder the nossel has to be biger 3/16ths inch i was useing 9/64th too small,

  • they are awesome fire crackers not so good for rockets though

  • try using the original powder in the casings and just fire those they work

  • you need to put it in a strong casing so it wont CATO also try a slow burning gunpowder try a plastic tube or dowel

  • @sk8terX2395X why dont you just get a grenade if your going to put stuff that shatters around the propellant

  • ROFL FAIL!

    jk

  • are you ramming the powder or pressing?.

  • try useing kno3 and suger forr custom rocket it works good

  • CATO much eh

  • CATO!

  • lol at the first one

  • pvc!!!!!!!!1

  • Not to be mean but it reminds me of october sky when their engines kept blowing up

  • Ha! Now thats some good R/D!!!

  • CATO....

  • How far into the propellant are you drilling?

If you drill to far, to much of the powder will ignite causing it to explode from the pressure.

  • well theres ur problem

  • my best advice to not have the rockets CATO and also at the same time add effect is add 25% more charcoal. such as a 100g batch of BP add 25g of charcoal to that. this will also give it a gold trail of sparks.

  • The fuel is obviously burning just a bit too fast. Try adding other chemicals to make it burn slower and more stable. For example, more sulfur would slow the burn. Your other option is to use a stronger casing. Estes rocket casings become very weak after just a couple uses and are only really suited for their mixture of black powder. Try using a metal casing. Copper pipe works very well, although it can be warped due to excess heat,if you use a fuel that burns too slowly. Keep posting videos.

  • but if that explodes you could have metal shrapnel in your face and everywhere else

  • when u put it in the vise it probely crumbeles the bp and makes it cato cuz then the bp burnes to fast try sticking it in the ground. hope this healps.

  • bentonite clay ?

  • lol u really suck at this

  • you weren't working for NASA in 1986 by any chance ?

  • Air pocket. you are using to much BP each raming. the air pockets give the BP gase room to expand causing the rocket to be more like a salute then a rocket.

  • You could try mixing your black powder with an inert filler to slow down the reaction. Might do it.

  • Well, I can suggest making the nozzle bigger. For this rocket size use about .5mm drill and drill it through cat litter. Or you can drill less into BP.....like only 1cm or so....

You'll have to tweak it one way or another.

  • lol atleast you made some firecrackers XD

But i aint sure whats wrong with it, probs the black powder is fast burning and the hole it should escape from is too small causing it to explode,i dont know. But try make the hole where the fuse is bigger and next batch, try and make it the BP slower burning, however if its too slow then you need to keep the hole the same size...its like this:

Fast Burning BP - Bigger Hole

Slow Burning BP - Smaller Hole

Test you BP before putting it in the rocket casing

  • wouldnt want the first 1 in my rocket
