  • HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY.

  • Chords -

    Verse

    G, Bb

    Prechorus

    G, Bb, C

    Chorus

    G,C,Bm, Em, C, G

Close enough but i'm not guitar master. If you have a more accurate tab please post it.

  • Great song! I love Australia <3

  • I don't know if I can be proud of something I did not choose. If people were born in Germany, would they then be proud Australians? Or in America, then proud Americans. I am not a monarchist, and nationalism smacks to me of the privilege of birthright, where someone is given status purely by virtue of their birth.

I will love some things about this country and hate other things, however pride? Seems silly to me, for neither the good, nor the bad, am I responsible for.

  • I hope to make it to Australia eventually.

  • Aussie Pride. The best place in the world.

  • @DKashman Very true my friend

  • @theredplumber Thank you :D

Aussie Aussie Aussie OI OI OI

  • if someone satid to me "i'll give you the world only if you give up your australian citizen ship" i would say "no". i love this country and i wont give it up for the world.

Aussie! Aussie! Aussie! Oi! Oi! Oi!

  • @TheGmodGirl If you had the world. You would also have Australia.

  • I enjoy this version. But the Seekers' version is excellent as well!

  • GOD PEOPLE RACISM IS PART OF SOCIETY IN EVERY COUNTRY ON EARTH NOT JUST AUSTRALIA IN FACT AUSTRALIA IS ONE OF THE MOST MULTICULTURAL COUNTRIES ON EARTH ! Although as does every other country we protect our borders and rightfully so, i have no problem with immigrants and understand the conditions they are trying to escape are dire although when i start having a problem is when they come over and expect us to become a custom to their way of life or religion this is the minority as are the racists.

  • Although I'm not from Australia, nor have I ever visited Australia, whenever I listen to this song, I always feel as though I'm a citizen of Australia, and thus feel a sense of pride of Australia.

  • Thumbs up if you're damn proud to be an Australian.

  • The only think I can see Australia can be proud of, is the multiculturalism that is happening here without true consent of the white Australians.

  • @parsizaban you're a knob. enough consent for ya?

  • @BerenFromAustralia Just a typical australian like the rest: English rednecks.

  • @parsizaban you are a knob because you are prejudiced (FYI racism is a form of prejudice) against all 'White Ausralians' because you assume that all 'White Australians' are opposed to a multicultural Australia, which is wrong. There are plenty of 'White Australians' that welcome and in fact encourage people from other cultures and of other ethnicities to come here and be part of the wonderful fabric that makes up Australian society. Also, most refugee advocates are 'White Australians' :)

  • @parsizaban Dude you know nothing about OUR FUCKING COUNTRY. GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM US YOU PEICE OF SCUM

  • Really good cover!

  • nice very nice

  • Ignorant people are everywhere and sad part in human nature is that negativeness appeals more to us.And people who do mudslinging are nothing but media mind washed junkies who don't have there own sense and sensibilities to gauge whats right and wrong because it was fed to there minds.Sure there are incidents and there are bad experiences but there are good experiences why is that not shining bright ask yourself .I am an Indian proud to be also respect Australia and nice ppl there.Nice song btw

  • i think this song is great. the concept is there that each of us are on an equal footing on this world. im a proud filipino and im not boxed in the culture that we have. g'day mates! i know we dont have the same perspective on this but then again most of us will agree.

  • The socialists are in control of our government and don't care about the average aussie so they'll destroy our way of life, today's generations have thrown out the "aussie Values" that we're known for displaying, our kids aren't taught about our past history or heritage (both Aboriginal and post-settlement), and there are plenty of people who don't want to intergrate into our society so they carry on like it's their "old" home and they're coming in by the illegal boatload, Still true Aussie????

  • This should be our National Anthem

  • to @APH1991, pull ur head out of ur arse u wanker! i haven't been overseas 1 because im not the "traveling" type and 2 so people from other country's come to see our country becuase its so amazing so i want to see everywhere around my own country before going overseas! get a grip u tosser!

  • To be called Australian, like any country the image of the nation is built on the backs of the people who live on, that makes Aboriginal Australians, White Australians, Italian Australians, Russian, Vietnamese, Chinese, Korean, Indian, Lebanese, Japanese, Brazilian, and every single other race that help make this country what it is, Australian!

  • Aussie! Aussie! Aussie! Oi! Oi! Oi!

  • Ahem...Hater down there...

We are not poor, we just stay here because it is the most amazing place in the world

  • This is the reason I am proud to be Australian born, bred and based.

    THIS IS AUSTRALIA GODDAMMIT!

    Wouldn't live anywhere else.

    I love this country.

  • @APH1991 Australians cant afford to move elsewhere thats why you are there. Australia's such a shithole.

  • @AmericaRulesCanada man the fact that u wrote this on here means u dont have a life.

i live here in australia and so many other is cause this country is the best and nobody would want to live in your shit arse country

  • happy australia day! it sounds like thirsty merc!

  • its part of who we are, multiculturalism is paramount to our survival, and we must never forget to recognise our traditional owners. Proud Aussie

  • australians are the true people, and always will be, we look out for eachother, that's the way we are brought up, we live the country life, riding horse backs in the open sun, we care for our people, land, animals, our pride, this is life, this is Australia

  • Although Advance Australia Fair was a good National Anthem at the time, I think they should give Australia a NEW National Anthem, one that represents (or tries to represent) everyone who has made his/her name in Australia. And I think this should be that new National Anthem.

  • This should be our national anthem

  • AUSTRALIA MOTHER FUCKER

  • I'm not from Australia, but I love this song. This should definitely be the new National Anthem of Australia.

  • @hexagonmoose I totally agree.

  • You're right. Australia might (and must) be phantastic, but I find my country, Hungary, at lest beautiful like Australia. Uluru is nice, and quite end of natural seeing. And here? In the smallest village, at leastr one beautiful park. I like to be hungarian. Australia must be great, and I want to visit it...

  • elizagr22 and HYDROGROWER... there are some of us that are descendants of that original "pygmy" tribe and WE ARE proud of our heritage.

We are simply proud to be AUSTRALIAN!

  • @Nuenonne listen my brother or sister whoever you are i am a proud githabel woman and i think you got me wrong. i do believe we all are descendents of the pygmy people. i mean on this youtube we dont need to make things complicated by getting politically correct and arguing. i mean one mob why do we have to prove a point all the time, its about teaching sharing and moving foward, arguing puts a block in that road.. thats all and im sorry if i offended you.

  • thanks alot sauvonslesbaleines22 im australian and i am also proud of bieng australian the country is peacful alot

  • We Get the girls <3

  • ΥΟU ARE SOME IDIOT ENGLISH, THAT YOU THINK THERE IS NO AUSTRALIAN NATION. HOW THERE IS NATION OF USA? IF YOU THINK NO ONLY FOR AUSTRALIA, THEN YOU ARE FACISTS

  • Woooh sydney ahah

  • Australia is a multiculturel country and we call it our home because its the best place of Earth to live, everyone is respectful in someways and you have your bad but not anymore

  • i am australian and i hate super sensitive polically correct fantasists and fuckwits whether they're wogs, asians, curry munchers or aussies. you can live in my street if you're not a fuckwit no matter what colour.

  • Just saying, but who else thinks that this song would have been amazing as our anthem? Of course not the extended one but I just love this song, its amazing.

  • OMFG 500 words to answer so many dumb comments!

First Aborigines were NOT the first australians. When they arrived it was populated by pygmies which were promptly pushed out and became extinct. They also brought dingoes with them which ate many species into extinction. They then burned the joint because it was an easy way to catch food. They changed our landscape a lot and no one should forget that.

  • @HYDROGROWER1 dont think ppl really give a shit ay, going back over 40,000 yrs i think aboriginal ppl were the 1st. no one wants to get technical lol

  • @elizagr22 some of US who are descendants of the original tribe DO CARE! I know I do and am proud of my ancient heritage!

  • @HYDROGROWER1 ... being an descendant of that pygmy tribe of only 22, I must point out they were not "pushed out"..... in 1842 the British killed everyone of the fullbloods of that race except THREE. You say pushed out ... we say mass genocide... potatos, potatoes... That first tribe were the Nuenonne... pronounced Ninoonya. I am proud of my heritage!

  • OMFG 500 words to answer so many dumb comments.

First Aborigines were NOT the first Australians, Australia was populated by pygmies when they arrived and they promptly wiped them out. They brough dingoes with them which then ate many species to extinction. Then burned the joint because it was an easy way to catch food, further changing the lanscape.

  • Born in Melbourne and proud

  • @ReflectionsVM born in Adelaide and very proud

  • how'd ya know i was australian?

  • Aussie test ... if you listen to this, try to sing it, and get a little choked up ... then you're an Aussie.

  • does anyone know where I can purchase and download this song? Thanks.

  • @kellysa78 go to google and type: youtube to mp3

  • this is definately the best version

  • the song that is ;)

  • any one no how to down load this reply to me

  • I miss australia so much

  • gotta love australia!! even though im not australian, i think its one of the greatest countries ever.. even if i've never been xD

i like this version of the song better... :P

  • I listened to this with tears, whilst watching the snow tumble down, and I want to be home. I currently live in a very undemocratic, poor, corrupt place, and every single day I am reminded that I was born and raised in a better place. Australia. I am saddened to read the racist and homophobic comments from my fellow countrymen and women. Please don't, you reinforce the worst stereotypes of Australians. I'll see you soon Australia.

  • @OSMarsupial I'm not from Australia, but listening to this song brought tears to my eyes as well. I have always loved patriotic songs, and this song, particularly this version, would definitely make a wonderful national anthem for Australia.

  • Aussie Aussie Aussie!!!

  • @busted192192 oi! oi! oi!

  • I am not Australian, but this song gets my blood pumping . Very beautiful song , love how Australia is described. :D

  • @lyfzwrthlvngful

That sounds kinda shallow, to blame every Australian for the actions of a few violent, morose, drunken dickheads. But, to each their own...

  • hey actually it was a reply to an Aussie's comment abt India...........i've removed it...I respect all the countries and cultures....

  • Oh ok, fair enough. It's really too bad that some people don't appreciate how great a country like Australia is because of its multiculturalism.

It is what makes us so unique. Same goes for the other countries, because of their culture and so forth.

    Have a good one.

    It's what makes the country

  • @Didgeinator92 What a load of shit

  • @Deekonmix23

    Whatever pal...

  • @Deekonmix23

I never said they were founders (or I might've, but forget that)...

I was only saying that they made this country into what it is today, a diverse and unique land. Of course, the bloody Youtube comments cut me off... -.-

But in all honesty, who cares? I'm happy to live in a place where everyone is different.

  • @Didgeinator92 Fair enough

  • @Deekonmix23 Ever looked at the racial makeup of the first colonists IE convicts,..

a Few Italians, a few French Canadian rebels, a few Spanish prisoners from Gibraltar,.. even gasp a few West indians and indentured Indians. Just saying that there was no Homogenous mass of pasty faced emaciated white convicts with bad teeth dumped in Port Jackson in 1788 onwards

"The Fatal Shore" is a fascinating read, Try it sometime

  • I love this country. I want to lay down every fellow Australian regardless of their roots and make sweet sweet love to them without a condom.

  • Yes! Australia is our colony.

  • to be honest with you guys i rkn australia has the least racism in the world. I look around and see heaps of different skin colours but i does anyone give a dam? nope.

  • incredible

  • Too those who think, White Australians are true aussies, then you should seriously consider getting help. Anyone and everyone who calls this country home is an Australian, Like it or not, it doesn't matter what your background is.. we are one nation.. take it or leave it.

  • @KomRade493 I agree with you, as long as people adapt to the great culture this country has had for years then i do not see a problem, i do believe immigration has gone too far in a way though, as they are letting people in without doing a background check and housing them at tax payers expense while we still have 2 million un-employed and still so many homeless, we need to fix these problems first.

  • @KomRade493 It's true that anyone who calls Australia their home has equal right to call themselves Australian.

It is disgusting, however, that people would leave their country in fear of their lives and yet bring their hatred, crime and bigotry into my country.

I'm not saying that all immigrants are criminals or unwelcome, however the few ruin it for the many.

  • @KomRade493 ONE MOB

  • @KomRade493 well theoritically we are only Australia if we have citizenship =p

  • @KomRade493 even if we are white, we probably have a bit or indigenous blood in us. we just need to let it show

  • i miss aussie

  • I *LOVE* this song. Have loved it for years. Thanks so much for posting it :) It is sad, angry, bitter and dare I suggest, englightenening. LOVELY. thank you.

  • I am truly sorry for Indians being targeted in a country that is supposed to be known for its laid back attitude and mateship BUT before you go calling all Australians racist please remember that racism exists in one form or another in many different countries. It's not fair to smack us with the racist stick when their are certain cultures that don't allow their children to marry outside of their own ethnicity.

Australia was built on the backs of immigrants of all nationalities. Be proud.

  • @dayal35 ..... sorry oh ! not true . check out first who the perpetrators were !

  • "white skin Australians" your the one that is RACIST mate.

  • @ dayal35

I don't understand why you insist on reflecting the racism you hate so much. I am a white Australian and I am NOT racist, and I am NOT anti-Indian. I don't appreciate you telling me I am. I agree with the lyrics of this song, we're all Australian, white Australian and Indian Australian alike and it's unfortunate that some Australians can't see that.

  • @dayal35 You dont know me cunt so dont call me fucking racist you fucking cocksucking imbecile....Purile broad sweeping statements are unhelpful, regressive and frankly out you as the intellectual lightweigt you are

  • Uh-huh...

Real shame you think that way.

  • @dayal35 Patriotic Australians would get you obliterated for that comment. Stereotypes are inaccurate of the whole nation, yet when one person makes a comment like that, it gives us proud Australians a target. It doesn't matter what fucking colour or culture you are. Saying shit like that will get you killed. Keep shit like that silent, or face the consequences.

  • @dayal35 yes, we can all tell you came from Australia... no? so that means you don't know anything.

  • @dayal35 youre a fucking racist. im a white aussie and i am most certainly NOT anti indian, inhuman or a racist

  • @dayal35 I'm a white Aussie, i am proud to be Australian and i am certainly not ANTI INDIAN, INHUMAN AND RACIST! Yes some ppl would think so but to me we are all mates.

  • @blodwarrior11 I totally agree with you.

  • @dayal35

    You're a fucking moron.

  • @dayal35 fucking to right where anti- indian.

  • this should be the natinal anthum!

  • @airborn97 .. great song but as an anthem it would send us all to sleep before you could say say eureeka

  • This song should be your National Anthem!

  • isnt this thirsty merc sure as hell sounds like em

  • It's unbeatable. It's just so alive, and moving.

  • This wasnt lo-tel. Sounds nothing like them!

  • Well, the original file listed the artist as John Williamson, and it does not even sound CLOSE to him. I think that Lo-Tel would probably be the best bet for now...

Hope you enjoyed the song, take care.

  • This song makes me proud to be Australian

  • same here!

  • not really at these prices....it too expensive to be actually australian these days......and buy a house

  • Fuck i love Australia..and if your Australian i love you!!!

  • Yay, that means you love me ^^

  • I love this song lol. Love from New Zealand

  • thisis an awesome version

  • this should be the nation anthome lol

  • i dont get it realy we said sorry but why..

im sorry ur on the doll im sorry u brock into my house and stole my shit...im sorry u have to live a life of prison well wake the fuck up and get of the drugs or we will use u like we did back then becausen the way u cunts a treating us is shit we brang u food clothing and more WAKE THE FUCK UP

  • its not our fault Australia is a Lucky and beautiful country that dint take it far like the UK or mess up bad like the USA .. But Australia has is good and its bad But is so Uneek in alot of things like our Nature and our Out Back and the Citys..

  • What a nice song =]

  • I couldn't give a fuck what any aboriginals or other races said about England taking over Australia.

How many natives from other countries have had their land taken over? A lot.

Abos can get the fuck over it. Say whatever you want, we're not going anywhere.

We've captured and held this land for a very long time now and it is rightfully ours AND theirs to share.

If they don't like it, they can piss off back to asia via the islands they hopped to aus from.

    They're as aussie as US.

  • WEll i second that, But they souldent piss off. They should just stop using our FUKING STUFF and live out in the bush were they belong. So they eather stop Winging and shit. Or Stop using our shit.

  • @KarboNeTikz

mate, first of all australia didnt capture anything, which is why our legal system developed the way it did, the british declared terra nullius, they did not see this land as a conquest or else they WOULD HAVE TO RESPECT LOCAL CULTURE. Mate, thats why when britain 'captured' hong kong and india they kept local legal systems and culture. here in australia they literally ripped it apart because they didnt see it as worthwhile. i think the indigenous have a right to be angry

  • @forocious before i get angry replies. i love this country! lol. i was just pissed off at the ignorance of some of the people commenting, and their ridiculous lack of ability to spell. haha. seriously, before you go posting, get an education and actually know what you are talking about yeah guys? We Are Australian for the National Anthem!!!

  • oh.

    my.

    god.

get over yourselves you melodramtic idiots. this is about appreciating the frigign music, god stop arguing...

  • Hear hear!

  • pretty sure that hardly any of u here are actual Australians the only real Aussies are the aboriginals but white people came here and took over thinking that they were something fucking important in my honest opinion all u cunts can fuck off back to England

  • You aren't really giving the Aboriginal people a good name with an attitude like that are you?...Our government has apologized for all the shit our past government has done wrong and that's really the best we can do- we are't all going to move and really...the government was stupid back then- there's nothing we can do about it so stop getting all pissed off.

  • So you still hunt with a spear and a boomerang? And of course you don't live in a house or shop in a supermarket? You probably don't use money, processed food or wear any clothing you haven't made yourself.

Let's face it you probably wouldn't survive in the bush for more than a week. Get over yourself - either acknowledge the advantages of white culture or go and live in the outback for a few months. Find out what it really was like to be an aboriginal before you start critising whites.

  • very well said mate

  • Too bad, milky. We aren't going anywhere. =) HA!

  • Please shut up now one thing the world needs less of is racism ok we took australia but if we didnt take it the french or dutch would of. aboriginals wernt going forward they didnt build a society so they didnt have a classified country at the time. so to england it was theres for the taking...anyway arnt you happy your australian with all diffrent people in a mix because i am?

  • The Aborigines did have a society for your information. It was divided up into hundreds of smaller territories with no central government and many different dialects, but it was still society.

  • Comment removed

  • i love beingn australian its tops mate

  • I am australian but i live in england :( I can't wait to movin back. I miss australia soooooo much!

  • this would be better anthem but not this ver

  • Could be a great modern day anthem.

  • absolutely love this version!

im very proud to be aussie!

  • this is the best

  • this would make a good national anthem for us i reckon.

  • yea

  • notnot

  • Ah! Been looking for the full version of this since the telstra ad was first on tele. Thank you for uploading it!

  • great rendition!

    :) aussie pride.

  • Great song thanks for posting it

  • Do you honestly think this make you look any better than the people you are talking about. You are a typical insular American. Have you ever even traveled out of the US? Have you even met an Aussie? Why don't you try to get to know people before you judge them. Let them be proud of there country as you are of yours. Not that there's much to be proud of in the US anymore. The socialistic nation it is becoming.

  • Kindly do us a big favor and piss off...

It's a shame people like you keep breathing our air.

  • Seriously is that the best you can come up with.

  • Who, me or him?

  • I was responding to DendrobiumOrchis . Sorry for the confusion. I'm a proud Aussie :0)

  • Well, for people with the brain of a suffocated cumquat, I guess that's way too hard for him... :-)

Anyway, glad you enjoyed the post. All the best.

  • fuck you......australia for life

  • The band is actually called The Botanics, according to a news article in The Australian on 21st July, 2008. Just thought the credit shoudl go to the right people.....

  • Possibly they were called Lo-tel when they covered the song. But that may be something to look into. Thanks for the heads-up!
