Its kind of funny noting the difference in dispositions between the pt 1 and 2 groups. The part 1 guy was totally stonefaced and serious while these guys reminded me of the dukes of hazard. Its odd looking at how different people react to combat.

@sanakassara very, very far away. (this is on a training range btw) but most firefights occur at upwards of 100-300 meters and longer if you've got the weaponry. Combat isn't like cod or Bf lol

@militaryrocks34 Because machine guns and grenade launchers are far more effective as defensive tools.

You fire off a few shots with a sniper rifle. Sure, it may be more accurate, but it is far slower and less psychologically damaging. It is not holding them back, they will continue to advance.

Fire on them with a machine gun though, with the amount of bullets flying at them, they have no chance but to seek cover and be pinned down. This in turn will slow them down and prevent movement.

@snoken90powerkiing Grenade launchers are far more effective on suppressed targets than a Sniper Rifle. The Machine guns is providing the suppressive fire. The grenade launcher is then used to eliminate the enemy once they are pinned into position.

@848Travis It's difficult without proper training to be able to achieve such a feat, and we don't even know if he knows how to operate the M107. Putting a bullet that's little over a centimeter in diameter into a specific spot several hundred meters away is not easy, especially when you're shooting at a target that doesn't sit still. They aren't snipers, they don't know how to properly operate the systems.

And even still, machine guns and grenades are the much more effective defensive tools.

The Barret, M107, M82 or .50 cal (whatever you want to call it) is an anti material rifle. No use wasting ammunition on infantry, plus the M320 and M240 get the job done just fine.

@crackparty It's not like a fucking movie or video game, the combat isn't going to take place within 100 feet of the two forces, I have heard of Marines who were taking out target with an M16 at 600 meters in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Maybe in the initial invasion, but now, the Taliban resort to spraying an AK-47 into the air at a convoy from 1200 meters away.

@givemeaname55555 I think it's suppressive fire, if you were a guerilla, and you were fighting against Americans with machine guns, and they would constantly shoot around you I think you would be scared. Well that's at least how the their enemies feel, in videogames, war is physical, you shoot to kill, but IRL it's psychological. After-all I don't know many people that would want to die. Or at least not stupidly.. That's why they all stay in cover instead of rushing to the enemy.
