  • You are right, dancingdude07, its about connective tissue (CT). If taking off your shoes helps, great. But it might make things worse--it did for me when Zola Budd inspired the previous wave of barefoot running. My CT just wasn't up to it, and that's genetic. Most CT genetics are determined by what your parents and grandparents ate and what you ate before puberty.

  • Then why is it that Americans in thier 40's who couldn't run more than 5-6 miles before running barefoot can run pain/injury free and marathins/ultras after swifting to the barefoot style? and doesn't it make sense that they would have stronger conective tissue if they use it. If we don't use it like they do then they will obviously have stronger tissue. but if we switch from modern running shoes to barefoot style and build the tissue we too can develope them. right?
