  • I'm sorry but I just can't help but giggle whenever Curt pops up with his little triangle. xD

  • I have loved Roland since I was 13. love how he looked in 1983 with the short hair. he's actually way hotter then any guy I've seen in this 2000's decade.

  • The other guy is hotter. Not that I wouldn't jump into bed with Roland.

  • classy girls.....lol

  • Roland got sexier with age so I think he needs to redo this video with a bit more manly physique...don't get me wrong because he's ultra hot in this as a younger chap but he's broader & more muscular now.....and gosh, let's not forget that mane of hair...

  • aside from all the comments about Rolands Physique...this vid give a good idea of the breathing and abdomenal muscles he's working to produce his beautiful and powerful voice..........Singers Take Note!!

  • a mounumental time capusle of Rolands

    stardust Music Career.

  • Just a soulful and beautiful song. Thanks Roland and Curt for your talent.

  • que deliciaaa de homem xDDD

    MEU DEEEEEEUS

  • OH IS HE SEXY!!

  • Powerful song.

  • I saw this video some days ago for the first time and i think that this version is slightly better than the one performed into the album.

  • Exactly. I felt the same when I first heard this version. This version is more melodic.

  • Nice tight pants with his junk showing. lol

  • He is so Hot ahhhhhhhhhhhhh.

  • Dedicated to Robert Wyatt, a UK performer who used to go onstage shirtless...paralyzed in an accidental fall, he continues to perform in a wheelchair.

  • Is it really? I get it, big fan of Robert and Soft Machine. Now it reminds me a little bit of Shipbuilding...

  • Roland's vocal style is like Robert Wyatt on this song. This song is a tribute to him in every sense. It could easily have been Robert's song- in a way both autobiographical and philosophical. But this whole song is so powerful that it is almost as if Roland was possessed by Robert. This is one of the best TFF tracks. The lyrics are cryptic.

  • OH DAMN!! Wish he would have show that body off more often! Course he still has a really nice body

    ~Drools~

  • damn right he's so effing sexy. i'm just gawking at it. i just wanna ****** him ;)

  • Damn 0_0

  • Omg ! Is he nekkid?

  • Are you blind or either 6 years old. His shirt is only off, geez.

  • lmao!

  • it was a song dedicated to the singer Robert Wyatt....

  • NOT FINISHED - You were a very talented artest and musician and I will never forget all the fun times we had together. Finally his dad called to tell me that Johnny was shot in his heart and died instantly. I still feel guillt after all these years. Johnny, this song is detected to you. You were the coolest guy I've ever know. * Hugs*

  • If you know me at all you will know this has been my favorite song of all times. I listened to this song over and over with a dear friend whose no longer with us. He died at a young age of 33, about 20 years ago. Johnny was shot by his ex wife bf at a party in KY. That same night Johnny wanted me to go out with him. If we would've went out we would not be at that that party and Johnny would still be alive. The next day I called ans called and couldn't get an answer.

  • he was married at 13? little confused

  • Well done. This version is more intense, but hell, I just love the song..period.

  • I believe A Soulful re-recording is like my favorite song right now!

  • hahaha curt's stuck with the triangle, he looks pissed

  • 31 de dezembro de 1989 foi o fim do mundo da música!!!!

  • i like more the video clip version than the studio version...

  • <3

    Love Roland and Curt

  • great, very nice song

  • oh wow! i've always loved this song but never seen the video! NICE

  • 80's lol

  • I miss the 80's!!!

  • woww, very sexy...nice sexy bod.

  • I remember that bare chest very well. It is engraved in my memory from November 1993 when he bared it live, right in front of us. Feeling that heat wave go through my body again.

  • lol look how high up his pants are :P God the 80s were sooo different from today.

  • lol you're right ;-)

  • I can assure you that not everybody wore their pants that way. I know I didn't and today, my balls thank me.

  • lol

  • I really love this video, listening to it and watching it is completely different. On the album its so much less intense. I <3 Roland.

  • Ok Girl stop droooling and Listen to the Tunes while Wicked stoned.

  • Deep song. Love it. Great melody. Not to mention (ahem) well you've probably already noticed ;) . Love Tears for Fears.

Will always be one of my Favorites if not #1. Love Roland's voice..so much. :)

  • he's always had a hot bodie...good god look at those abs! =0)

  • I believe that Roland shirtless is one of the sexiest things I have ever seen in my sixteen years. Agreed?

  • i thought it was sooo boring Bfore..but im starting to like it!

  • Just imagine if the jeans were low waisted and the top was unbuttoned!

    Yum!

  • one of the most beautifull songs of them...

    awesome

  • Holy F**K! Now THAT is what I call a TREAT for both the ears and eyes. Hmm, Nigel Dick? I'd say NICE dick, from what we can observe...though hey, that's not all what Roland's about now...is he?

    Again...F******************************CK!

  • sensual

  • this video is simple, snsual with a very good taste. We do not have to comment about the marvelous song

  • i am jealous of roland's wife...he's so hot here, even with the high waisted jeans...LOL!

  • u know what i like bout this group is that their voices are SO unique

  • OMG!!! Roland Has Muscles! I'm Dying Here XD!

  • so sexy !!

  • roland looked like a young paul mccartney

  • everytime curt and roland fought they brought out a hit...

  • he's kindda hot.. was i mean..

  • I would sub 'super' for 'kindda' especially from the Sowing the Seeds era on. Yes, he aged but still has that something special that is so attractive.

  • Those waist high jeans we're nutty huh?? Very late 80's.

    Beautiful man..still is.

I listen to "Head Over Heels" at least 2x a week. I am burning a hole in my MP3 with it.

  • Try 1985.

  • same here :)

The whole album "Songs from the Big Chair" is sublime

  • damn roland has a nice chest!!!

  • Roland is shirtless and seated as a reference to Robert Wyatt, to whom the song is dedicated on the album (if he's listening!) Wyatt was the drummer and lead singer of Soft Machine. Used to go onstage with no shirt, sometimes a tie. He was paralyzed in a fall, and continued to perform in a wheelchair. Still does, for all I know. Roland honors him for his refusal to "resign himself to his fate". TFF also recorded "Sea Song" which Wyatt wrote.

  • Wow, didn't know that. I love Roland's Sea Song rendition. I mean I knew Robert Wyatt was paralyzed but not the rest. Thanks for the input.

  • Just magnificent. This is a classic, deep and universal music ever.

  • ok high 80s pants not so hot, but Roland's Bod is scorching. And the top button undone, yummmm...

  • my favorite TFF video ever - love the old tape deck

  • sitting in a chair semi naked with high waisted pants and singing he best song ever

  • love it !! Fantastic!

  • whenever Roland and Curt would fight over compostion of music they would come out with a Hit..

  • So glad to see so many positive comments here! I have adored TFF, and especially ROLAND, since the first album. Everything he does is brilliant, IMO. Can't wait to see them in July!!!!!!

  • Hey Me Too! What City Are You Going To? BTW, I Almost Met Him Once :].

  • I'm seeing them at the Pacific Ampitheater in Orange County, Cali. I think I'd be struck dumb with nothing intelligent to say, if I ever met Roland!

  • So would I. I've been talking to Curt at his website and I was very shy to talk to him because he's a very popular musician and I'm not. In fact I lurked around his site for a few days before I did register and I've been a card toting Curt Smith KOOK for over 19 weeks. Not literally of course. But I wrote to him about the Change video and he was really sweet and responed right away. :D

  • Like a physical letter? I'm a member of the site too but too shy to say much. Everyone just seems to ignore me whenever I give input...

  • Yeah. I Would Be, Too! And I'll Probly See You There :).

  • Cool! Can't wait for that show, and it's a decent venue as well (if you have good tix).

  • Yeah. I Have The Center Section.

  • met him at the vegas show ... must say he definitely seemed he was doing the obligatory thing ... don't think he found it fun or interesting to meet his fans ... bummer ...

  • Might have been you! (Sorry, sure it wasn't) x

  • I met him at Vegas also...he seemed to be friendly and he was smiling, joking around a lot.

  • check out those high-waisted 80's style pants...

  • Check out just how ripped Roland used to be. He's a hottie now but still.

  • OMG, this song brings back so many memories of just drooling over Roland! I never had eyes for Curt, nope.

This video I used to watch over and over! Yum!

I saw them at Radio City Music Hall in 1985. Twice! They were awesome!! Audience was on our feet the whole time we never wanted the night to end.

  • i wanna sit on his lap and make out with him :O

  • Don't feel bad, you're not the only one. :)

  • lol i know it :D i also love roland from 1983. i saw him shirtless then to. he is a sex Symbol lol!!! just those eyes are enough for me

  • Roland semi - naked! Unhmm, delicious ;D

  • this video makes me sincerely wish that i was at least ten years older

  • Roland is like wine, he was delicious then and even more now, and I'm not talking only about his looks; it is voice, talent, charm, sweetness yet tough, charisma, and deliciousness all over.

  • You'd better be a girl, lolll

  • He was 24 actually. :) So was Curt. :)

  • I want Roland right now!

  • I wonder who's idea it was to have Roland shirtless in this video? Not that seeing Roland shirtless is a bad thing.

  • It was my idea !!!!!!! lol In fact all fit men should do video's in their pants !

  • I,m in my forties, so i was very much alive!

  • Check out Curt Smith the pimping man at 3:50.

  • omg!! i always thought he was so hot, then i see him shirtless, holy shit he was hot back then, love his voice

  • Comment removed

  • I love that voice of his

  • This version is on the UK Sowing the Seeds of Love remastered version. It called the soulful version. Also the a great song on there called Johnny Panic and the Bible of Dreams.

  • his voice is orgasmic!

  • AH-AH-YES

okay that was unecessary, but I agree

  • If you listen closely, you can hear that it was recorded live. That happened in the midst of their US tour in 1985.

  • Check out my album on Itunes if you like MoJo / My Option's Just Opened Thank You Tears For Fears

  • Tears For Fears I believe you are the best team duo group out thier. Thank you for making music for me when i was young, the songs you made was worth the effort, cause with out them i would'nt be who i am today. Thanks MoJo

  • Great comment, very warm. Thank you.

  • I tribute these songs to my great late friend Kevin Macken (rip 2006). Great times in Kensington Gardens London 1984-6. He over-came his problems then succummend to cancer - my best friend, my love always.

  • where somebady might find this version of the song? on wich album?

  • Album Name: Songs from The Big Chair

  • no, ok, i know, but this version is slightly different from the album one, so i was wondering if there is an album containing this version ( a live, a b-side, a remix one)

  • If you pick up the expanded edition of Songs from The Big Chair, you will find this version on it. Its a 2 CD set, well worth every penny since there is hardly a bad track on the entire recording.

  • F Polygram

  • MC and GnR are too busy going to rehab to kick anybody's asses. Anyway Roland Orzabal ia a martial artist and could kick any one of their bony asses. Not that he could be bothered.

  • I never knew Roland was a martial artist.

  • neither did i, he has a gorgeous physique!!!

  • Roland=Sexy, sexy, sexy! But damn...he's married.

  • And your point is....? Save the immature comments

  • I recently watched an interview (on the DVD Scenes From the Big Chair) with Chris Hughes, who produced this song. He explained that he played some of Robert Wyatt's music for Roland, knowing he would appreciate it. Roland then wrote I Believe as a tribute to Robert. In the liner notes for the album Songs From the Big Chair, I Believe is "dedicated to Robert Wyatt (if he's listening)".

  • Excuse me for sounding kind of dumb but who is Robert Wyatt?

  • Ex-Soft Machine drummer and singer who fell out of a fourth storey window following an alcholic binge at a party. He emerged from the accident paralysed from the waste down but continued to write and record as an artist. This song draws inspiration from Wyatt's coming to terms with his disability.

  • I love listening to Roland's voice climb ever so gently up the musical scale. So passionate.

  • Roland in chair = Robert Wyatt in wheelchair = tribute

  • it doesn't sound anything like shipbuilding

  • here here i believe is a tribute to robert wyatt :) roland topless? absolute heaven ;)

  • its not a rip off roland was doing a tribute to robert wyatt

  • are you stupid 27111994.... this sounds nothing like shipbuilding

  • This Is A Message To The Greatest Band In The World (TFF) And Every Single Fan Of Them: Forget This Idiot! He Doesn't Know What He's Talking About.

  • beast =]

  • Lovely, lovely song. And how dreamy is Roland, even with horrible 80s jeans?!?!

  • Love this song. So so beautiful and sad.

  • beautiful.

  • Tout simplement magnifique !
