  • I really enjoyed RAINY DAY

  • This is such a wonderful enterprise. I just wish other ensembles would take the works of other composers, as Hefti, Ellington, Mancini, Fats Waller and add contemporary ideas. Is this available on a CD? The trombones and the whole horns section are add real depth. As do the woodwinds and flutes.

  • A wonderful salute to a wonderful man and musician....he gave so many their start. Never to be forgotten! His music will live on forever.

  • It is just a bit MORE than a community band because it draws musicians from the Southern third of New Jersey. The band was the 2006 John Philip Sousa Foundation Suddler Silver Scroll winner for outstanding band.

  • Nice rendition. I'm wondering who the orchestra is.

  • I think it's just a community band, although it's a good one.Trumpets really have some chops.

  • We used to dance to or just listen to Stan Kenton at Moonlite Gardens, Cincinnati Ohio, when he was in town many many times. We enjoyed everything that he did. What a jazz talent he was and way before his time. We wish he was still here!!

  • @57544321

Did you know my Dad, Red "Jimmy" Borland who sang with The Pastels" Kenton's vocal group?

  • Not bad, folks. My dad used to play with Kenton's band, so I appreciate this.

  • @paulcasali cool. MY dad was with Kenton's band in 1947-? His name was Jimmy "Red" Borland. I wonder if they worked together at any time?

  • Thanks so much for posting this its much appreciated.

Kenton was musical genius so much of his music is semi-symphonic with touches of Ravel,Mahler and Debussy running through his many works. Gt Orch but would have like some strings if possible.
