  • This girl has already learned "the Black Page" at 12. There are two good reasons why she might be focusing on showmanship a bit now. She probably wants a career in music. Why settle for "struggling unknown?" And she's 13, so she enjoys being a little rock star, wouldn't you if you were 13? As long as she progress's musically also, she's an artist. Sara, I hope you keeps getting better and become a famous jazz/prog/rock drummer one day!

  • It's a little bit.. weird...

  • What a kid! I love the way she hits, pretty much my style today.

  • AFF' mó zuado ,,

  • Yea, well; Kozo Suganuma may be a good drum teacher, and many people can play real fast! That does not create any "music". Music without feeling is like chocolate without sugar. Sara has the natural ability to insert feelings, while playing rythms on the drums. In fact, Sara is "acting" the pieces; like dancing the beats and the rythms with her drums, as if her entire spirit was incarnating the piece... Emotions and Feelings are eadiating! THAT creates Real Music! We just can't get enough!
  • haha nice groove

  • hey you people! also check out kozo's other student senri!

great job there sara!!! sugoi wa!!! XXXDDD

  • I admit: I'm addicted !

I keep rewinding and watching over and over...

Looking at her performance is Mindblowing!

And I did notice what makes her smile:

    Camera Flashes, uh !

    Artist in the soul.

  • Lol theres a kids drum festival?!?!?!?! no one told me this????? @_@

  • What a pleasure to witness such brilliance.

  • very nice

  • that's so cute! she sounds amazing!

  • damn girl your good! keep going sara. your good for a 13 year old

  • I am absolutely blown away! Her energy, enthusiasm, the way she holds her sticks so low so the they look like her arms are flying...

She is Awesome! This is raw talent. Sara, you have a great future ahead of you!

  • Man; the spirit she puts in her playing !

    Captivating performances!1

    What a show !!!

  • wow, amazing

how often do you practice? and how do you practice?

  • subscription done! good job!

  • yea really good.

I wanna hear her play to some Mega Man drum beats just cause it would be cool.

  • she is alright but when she gets older the good technique will come out of her and the beats will be amazing. JUST WAIT in the future

  • Wow....wait until she's older and the sticks fit in her hands better she is gonna be a frikkin monster!!!

But I hope she'll won't be so flashy if shes gonna be in the studio....

  • Sweet Sara,

You have amazing talent. You really don't need to do the stick stunts. It may draw attention away from the playing.

  • No it isn't.. why the fuck would it be doing that? She is a performer... would you rather have a plain look on her face and acting like a robot? Me thinks you're jealous and trying to take away what makes her fucking cool as hell. I can't wait to hear and see her performances 5 years from now.

  • There are pool players who do amazing trick shots. Stuff that's impossible to believe. But on a rack of 8-ball, I'll clean their clocks every time. Sara's a great talent, but I think form trumps flash. It's a balancing act. Should she spend more time juggling glow in the dark tambourines or studying Zappa charts? For example, Lars Ulrich--hack drummer with enormous ego and showboating tendencies. Wildly successful. Artist? Nope. I think you can see where I'm going with this. Jealous isn't in me.

  • Music *is* purely entertainment.

Music doesn't feed people, it doesn't cure people, it doesn't provide a mode of transport. It simply *entertains* people. Who gives a cr*p what a small cadre of "artists" think of stick work? What matters is whether the audience is entertained.

Do I assign a lot of weight to the stick work? no, but it adds (not subtracts) from the work.

If Sara has compromised her playing for the flash, then that is even more impressive, because the playing is superb.

  • You are mistaken. Music is NOT purely entertainment. It is a form of high-art and dedication, and virtuosity. Simply entertains people? you are mistaking true music for so called pop music that simply turns up synthesizers and heavy beats. I just had to leave this comment to enlighten your ignorance and arrogant behaviour

  • Im sure you are a musician yourself. and you shouldnt be saying such stuff. Haven't you heard music therapy? The effect of Mozart, Bach to human brain? The reason people nowadays dont listen to jazz, classical music , etc is because all people want is "VISUAL" and "ENTERTAINMENT". In that sense, ART is purely entertainment. SCIENCE is purely a form of entertainment; Bill Nye? Again, Music IS NOT PURELY ENTERTAINMENT.

  • Yes. Art is purely entertainment.

Farming, Civil Engineering, Medicine are utilitarian fields. All art forms (music, film, theater, visual arts) are entertainment. They serve no utilitarian purpose (they don't nourish, heal or provide the necessities of life).

That doesn't mean the arts aren't of value (they are, of course, of immense value), but they are valuable exactly because they entertain, not in spite of the fact that they entertain.

  • Ok, I understand your point, I seem to have overreacted because what you were saying seemed to infer that Art requires no mastery. You were simply stating the obvious that Art serve no utilitarian purpose. I mean, you can argue that Art is an expression of human emotions, and it sometimes brings joy and sadness to the viewer/listener.

  • Exactly, I was reacting to those who were suggesting that Sara was wasting her time learning to do flashy stick work (which I agree has no *musical* purpose), and I was basically saying "get a life", because the flashy stick work enhances (not diminishes) the overall entertainment value of the art form of drumming.

  • I agree, and that is true for guitarists, as well. Jimi Hendrix's stage theatrics are a noteable example.

  • @ddoggycanada

    I concur !

REAL music is a lot more than "entertainment":

It is a sweet magical caress that envelops your soul and takes it away dancing on clouds...

However, we each respond to different "vibrations".

  • what kind of sticks is she using? they look kind of long

  • She's also kinda little...

  • That's due to her size. My son is also very small, and the sticks look long in his hands as well.

  • shes doing some pretty simple stuff, but then making up for it with all her cymbals and stick spinning...

  • Dude i can't wait to see her drumming skills when she's older. she could probably make a fortune in amerieca!

  • Imagine what she can do in her 20s..

  • woah! little freakin NINJA.

  • Whoa! She kicks my ass totally with this song!!

Good job girl!! Keep it up!!

    5/5 :D

  • I would love to have a drum off with her at any time Im a 13 year old drummer my self. I started when I was about 3 or 4. She has skills but can she beat me???

  • dude, you probly suck dick. ive benn playin drums since i was 2 and i could play entersandman by then and at 7 i could play dani california, and at 10 i could play four play, long time, and i can play through the fire and the flames on guitar hero on expert and get a solid 92.. guitar... youre a fuckin douche!

  • Well done!! Happy to see a new video of your playing. Very impressive!!

  • i hate myself and my drums right now. lol.

  • If only your skill were as infectious as your enjoyment! You are a natural!

  • learn all the beats you can. Also you should look into getting sponserd by a drum company like Ludwig. Ludwig is the best.

  • I started playing drums when i was five. This looks very amazing, im jealous. Keep practicing you could become the best drummer ever.

  • shes 13, im 42, I QUIT, whats the point!!..lol. smooth transition at 2:57 on the stick lossage. and she smiles all through. again, i quit.

  • Yeah, her style of playing is very entertaining.

It's good that she is both entertaining and a good drummer.

  • That drum twirl segment: So perfectly done it looks like a tape loop....................but of course it's not! BRAVO!!!!!

  • nice job =) i wish i had a drum set like yours cause mines a vintage set
