I never understood why when the goons siege the bunk in the beginning, why the goons don't just snipe the scvs repair the bunk. I mean there's only a few marines in there. Snipe 3 scvs and back off.

@HonoreT35 dragoons are clunky in movement. scvs can micro better than goons. so if both players micro well, the goons will just take damage for no reason. bunker damage is secured damage in repair costs

@demonsoulzx i see what you mean, but i think it's worth trying and then back off it's too intense. Goons have shield too which can regenerate later. The key to me is that when you have 4+ goons, the bunk firepower is not too much to try to snipe off a few scvs. If it's targeted, it only takes a second wave to kill an scv. But that is only in my non-professional experience.

@HonoreT35 you should watch day9. he explains things very similar to this. it's about opportunity cost. damaging bunker = lost minerals from repairing (and unlikely chance at breaking bunker = win game). damaging scv = take shield damage (and unlikely chance at killing scv at pro level). if you look at it this way, i would much rather have a small chance of breaking the front door than a small chance of killing 1 scv even though it's unlikely i would get either.

Spider mines have to unburrow and seek their targets before detonating, so a zealot can bait one mine towards other mines, where its detonation and massive splash damage kills the other mines before they can detonate. To the untrained eye, this may look like a zealot surviving several mine detonations, but this is not so.

Wait a second, I just thought of something. Couldn't Flash have walled off his expansion completely, using a depot, barracks and bunker some way south of the expansion, the way protoss do it for zerg? It would surprise me if a zealot could walk through that. Correct me if I'm mistaken.

He lost several marines, each costing 50 minerals; a few SCVs plus their mining time, costing even more. Add to that a major delay in getting his expansion up and running. Wouldn't it have been better to spend 100 minerals up front on an early bunker, which could be repaired and presumably save all that trouble (has to be built to keep out dragoons anyway)?

Bisu was just a little better and threw off Flash. Also, it's not normal for a player to stream in zealots, so perhaps Flash was thinking "okay, manage the two zealots that come and continue my strategy."

Then again, we will never know. Bisu has an aggressive opening that caught Flash off-guard. Gotta give Bisu his props.

Early bunker blocking doesn't require any micro, unless you count repairing. It's expensive, yes, but very safe. I know why Flash didn't go for it, though. He wanted a fast (pre siege) expansion, and there was no way he could have foreseen how determined Bisu's zealot attack would be.

Protoss is my favourite race. Bisu is one of my favourite gamers not just because he plays protoss, but also because he's an acknowledged innovator, and evidently one of the most skilful players around.

Flash made a serious error, not making an airtight wall in. He should have used a depot and barracks to block his ramp, using at least 1 marine to chase off zealots, getting siege before expanding. That's just the way it is on some maps, it's nothing to do with imbalance.

Flash's early game sense and play are relatively weak, I think this is well known. Early game is the best time to take Flash out, or at least damage him significantly. Bisu did it very effectively, so Flash could not settle down and mass up as he's used to.

If Flash wants to be truly invincible, he should sharpen up his early defensive play. (Of course, no one can be absolutely invincible.)

flash was unlucky in that he scouted bisu last. bisu had prepared really well and had a build that perfectly countered flash, but aztec is imbalanced as shit. i feel like flash has the best innate skill out of any player at the moment, but his preparation sucks hard.
