@kevinthemathgeek not you, your fencing. lesson to be learned: if you do something that is completely opposite what you usually do it will work very well
its funny how the video is super ultra analyzed when in reality the guy has good timing in execution and definition of the attach actions.... that's it.
and if you want to accept that as the only reason that it works then thats fine. im trying to show the timing and actions that marti is using to set it up. timing isnt everything
no, timing isnt everything, if it was the same person would win literally every single tournament. its about how the touch is set up by other touches and learning what will work and what wont work. marti contrasts his spastic preparation and his slow attack very well so in that respect he has great timing for it but he also sets it up very well. it is not completely about timing
@CyrusofChaos This is very true. Although timing is very important, you have to focus on how to execute your actions. Like CoC said in his video, Marti used a lot of tactics to play with his opponents by actively faking in one bout and then catching them off guard when suddenly slowing down. Excellent video by the way =) I love your analysis on all these fencers
So you basically have to be bipolar to make this work lol. I'm going to try this this season.

Yeah a lot of his slow attacks, after starting slow off the line, seem to fall short with his front foot landing

Definitely best music selection of any of your videos. Also like the reference to his "spastic" attacks. Keep up the good work! :)

Looks like attack-no for foot down at 2:19 and 2:35 - I'm stunned he got the hit after the Zhong calls for the replay.
It is nice movement though and it's a good point about the variation of high/low energy attacks.
