This was a great tutorial and I used it in my work quite a bit.
Please look carefully at 500px.com/photo/3093941
This is a montage: Model and Window from my photo files, Dark Room and Sun Ray Created with PS Cs5. The banding shows ONLY when adding the gradient step.. If added to the original photo of the model it is not there. I redid the montage in 16 bit but it still is there.
you could have saved researching, because this is the most non-sophisticated method to create sunrays. Obviously, they are also very unrealistic and useless.
i dont think sunrays are realisic, i barley see and and when im behind a tree rays dont come through it, like does not do this stuff, maybe i have robot eyes
the rays in that photo doesn't look too real, cos they don't actually seem to shine onto the floor, but instead towards the viewer and off the picture :/ but i like it :D thanks for the vid
Try radial Blur. Not the gradiant tool. Light gets more difuse the farther away it is from its source. In your case it just fades hence it looks fake. I've done a video about that topic.
thank you so much dude

2009, this video calls for a redone, 2011 a new video with REAL realistic effects, not some cheap old psp engine trick, make it happen, DO IT!

Very good tut! Easy to follow and great speaking voice. Only thing I would add is some dust particles floating in the beam. Thanks, bro!
